There's a few options for backend display - I've got mine set to Tropospherical Purple, because red gives me a migraine. You ought to be able to change them here: http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/settings/?cat=display... )

Oh, I kept scrolling over those options thinking it was related to the frontend. LOL, silly me. Thank you, now its not so white and red :p

The day DW gets a scrapbook equivalent, I will shift my preference for a primary account. Is there a way to browse top community feeds in DW as there is in LJ? Because I do want to see what the busiest communities are (so I can populate my reading feed). I did find top feeds though and noticed some of them being LJ accounts.

Er. That I'm not really sure about. I don't like the community popularity thing, so as soon as lj introduced it, I disabled it and added scripts to firefox to block me seeing it :P I usually only add comms I've got a vested interest in. I do know that if you do an interest search on dw, it lists the most recently updated ones first, so maybe start with that? *not really useful*

I'm not really interested in the most popular communities specifically, but I am interested in scrolling the top 100 or so just to see what people are using on LJ (and DW). You know, get a feel of the userbase. God knows I can't stand most fandoms, but it does interest me to see the activity levels of certain interests in DW in comparison to LJ. See which interests and/or fandoms have been captured by DW, or at least have their foot in the door compared to LJ. For example, graphics and icons communities. I know fanfiction in general has made the shift (based on the most recent posts feature on DW). And I've clicked on a FEW icon/graphics comms, but if these are the "top DW icon/graphics communities", they are nowhere near as active as they are on LJ.

No, not better. If anythng, its exactly the same (I pretty much made an exact copy of my LJ journal there, even importing the contents). Just using DW as a backup for now. I'm guessing you missed the latest LJ announcement that they are doing a major overhaul on the Friends page feed. So there's talk again about a mass exodus from LJ -- but time will tell if that will actually come true this time around. Better to be prepared just in case.

Yep, that one. On paper I didn't mind the change either. But then I previewed it and realized they got rid of my custom look! I hate looking at white background -- the only reason I know its person and not work related is because I don't have to look at so much white on my screen. Also, I enjoy my slightly interactive custom navigation :p
