laurie i wired all the computers in my house for dsl last summer. you're right, you need a router and ethernet cords to connect the computers to the router. or! you can get a wireless router and get wireless cards for all the computers and that eliminates the cords and everything (but is way more expensive.) does that make sense? let me know if you need help.

Best way to do it is to use a wireless DSL router etc but you don't need it.

All you need is an ethernet card for both computers and a crossover cable between them. Then set the ip address of the ethernet in the PC with DSL to something suitable (simple 192.168.0.1, sub mask 255.255.255.0,) then set the ethernet on the new PC to 192.168.0.2, same sub mask and default gateway of 192.168.0.1.

A bit more complicated than a circuit city network in a box option but probably a lot cheaper, it does however mean the dsl PC needs to be on for the other one to have web access.

PC world hate it when I go in there

Who knew I could do it-- I had a DSL modem here waiting to use and I didn't realize it had an ethernet port and a USB port... So I've got one of the PC's on the ethernet, and another on the USB, downloaded the software on both and VOILA!! IT WORKS. Thanks guys for the advice---
