I’ve always hated my father. He was a lowly man, nothing but a cog in the giant machine. But that isn’t why I despise him. I despise him because he was content with it, he was content with his mere existence in the world.
I’ve always been annoyed with my mother. She pushed me too hard. She wanted me to be something I wasn’t. What if I wanted to be the owner of a watch shop? She never loved me for who I was.
They are contradictory wants from two parents. They contrast so much with my new parents. My mother loves me for who I am, my father wants more for me. It’s such a change from what my life was before.
But I won’t let either of them down. No matter what. Because I have found sanity in my mother’s pride and inspiration in my father’s faith. I need a family to function as a human being, or whatever I type of being I can become after all this time.
