Merlin 5x02 Reaction Post
Recap of first episode was good. Got me excited.
She dreaming again *groans* Ooo… she was captured. But by who and who saved her? And Aithusa is with her and big. Why is Aithusa with her? I vaguely remember her saving her in the last series… I think I need to go re-watch it to remember. It was too long ago, so many things happened between now and me watching the last series. Anyway…
Aithusa looks really weak and I don’t like it. Morgana needs to feed her better. Bad Morgana!
Arthur blaming Merlin. It was his fault though Merlin has a point. Arthur was being stubborn. Bickering like an old married couple, so cute :P And Merlin eyeing Mordred and Mordred eyeing Merlin… I think Merlin is trying to work him out. He really isn’t sure of him.
He punched Arthur in the guts! He can’t do that! For a second there though I thought he stubbed him. It was a good way to shut him up though. Sometimes Arthur speaks too much for his own good.
Oh, she is going to get hung. And Gaius is there to help, that’s nice. Ooo, bold move Sefa. I guess she has nothing to lose though. Seems Gaius doesn’t believe too much in Gwen’s sentence either.
Okay, I like that Mordred suggested they feed them, but I don’t get why. There is too much talk going on between Merlin and Mordred via eyes. It would seem that Mordred does not like to see Merlin suffer. And it is amazing how much people can say with their eyes, cos Merlin (i.e. Colin) clearly tells Mordred that it is okay and that he is grateful for him trying.
Hmmm, that looks much better than last episode. Much less alien. And it is hiding Gwaine from the bad Saxons. I like it now.
Awww, Merlin is watching over Arthur as he sleeps *squees* Oh, here comes trouble. Those aren’t very friendly looks. Merlin so doesn’t trust him. Mordred brought them food, which was good. He wants them to trust him. Quick to judge… who, us? Never. We just don’t like you cos we know what the legends say and we saw the same scene Merlin did and no matter what you do, we will be waiting for you to turn a page and be evil and turn on Arthur.
Hmmm, he told Merlin the truth…. And now there is no picture.
Morgana sounds a bit panicked. Oh, Sefa’s father knows. He sounds really sad… you kinda feel sorry for him. Morgana does a little, but she doesn’t care to save her. Picture back, yay. Man, she is evil. Not like Arthur going to save his captured Knights. I get the feeling Sefa’s father is going to try and rescue her no matter what Morgana says.
Oh, Arthur is hurt. Needs water… there is plenty of ice, suck on that… Oh wait, the plan. That guy/captor is an arse. Oh, Arthur is a sneaking bugger. He got his dagger :P
Gaius did arrange for Sefa to see Gwen. Interesting that she agreed. Didn’t think she would. Sefa’s arguments weren’t very convincing. You do feel sorry for her but it doesn’t change what she did. She had a choice. She knew what she was doing and the potential for harm to others. For a moment I thought Gwen was going to give in though…
Oooo, and so the truth is revealed. Gwen is not like Uther, but she is very cunning. Me likes. And of course Ruadan will come for Sefa. Good plan Gwen.
Their captor is still an arse. And Arthur dobbing in Merlin, lol! Woot, go Arthur! Merlin is using his magic more freely around Arthur. Gap… Nice jump Arthur. Merlin, noo, yes just, with a little help from his man :P Love Arthur being protective of Merlin. And there goes Merlin using his magic again. Last man Mordred… hesitation… Merlin so didn’t like that. That was Arthur’s chance to not ever be in that battle with Mordred, but Arthur’s kind heart just won’t let that happen.
“Why did you spare his life?” Merlin not happy…
“He couldn’t come after us.”
“He was leading us too our deaths”
“He showed us kindness” well, you see Merlin, you taught him to be like that…
“You should have killed him”
“What is wrong with you?” He saw you being wounded by him and he does want it to happen because he loves you too much and doesn’t want to be without you… plus he wants you to keep peace and stuff in Camelot and be an awesome ruler for ages.
“You had the chance”
“We escaped, didn’t we?”

Gwaine is awake, yay! And we find out more about this thing. I think it is what Morgana is looking for. My mum just piped up and put the theory of it being Aithusa’s spirit out there. I doubt it, but I can see how she came to that theory.
Ooo… knights. That first one looked like a young Percival… Ah, there is Ruadan. He got into the castle a bit too easy. Omg, stupid guards, honestly. Hmmm… that just made me think. Why doesn’t Sefa possess any magic?

The sewers! Should have known. And of course he makes Merlin go first. Arthur you little… You do have lots of ideas though. Quite smart is the young King xD Merlin can’t seem to catch up with how fast Arthur’s mind is working.
Oh, Morgana has spotted Mordred. This could be dangerous. Absolutely LOVE the look she gives the arse of a captor xD You go girl! Let him know just how little he really is :P
Percival! He is really happy to see Arthur *squee* Couple of days Gwaine was out :S

Morgana seems happy with Mordred. But Mordred… that slight hesitation at the mention of Arthur, make you want to have second thoughts about him… then he goes and tells Morgana they had him and he escaped, wtf? Why would you tell her that?!
“Calm yourself Morgana” She can’t, she has gone mad with hate. And Katie plays her oh so well!!! Mordred is quite calm though. Make it easier to hide his true feelings or figure out what his true intentions are.
Yay for protective Gwaine! I’ll have him as a bodyguard any day xD That determined look on his face and that body! Yum!
And yay for Arthur’s quick reflexes!!! “Trust you not to be doing any work.”

“You know, if Arthur knew you had magic, things would be… very different.” I’m not sure whether he is trying to imply that it might be easier to convince Arthur that magic isn’t all bad or whether Arthur would never had knighted him and would have questioned his motives more for saving him and killing(?) Morgana.
“Because Arthur is right. The love that binds us is more important than the power we wield. Morgana had forgotten that.” I like his answer and I can see why Merlin is smiling and is happy… but I still think there is more to his words than we know. The look on his face when he turns around after Merlin leaves does nothing to decrease my suspicion.
“And that for good or ill, Albion’s great trial has begun.” Good to know Merlin is still suspicious too. Those words don’t bode well for the rest of this season… or of there being another in the future *sniff*
Dammit. Why won’t she die already?! Aithusa’s with her... as least there is still hope for her.

The attack on Gwen is understandable. Merlin…wonder if Uther’s spirit knows about Merlin’s magic?...
Well, I think it is a solid start to Season 5 and things could lead anywhere from here. Head canon is still rather valid. Unspoken expectations are being met…kind of…
