Oh lovely ending. You get the balance just right between reformed Lucius and still just naughty enough. And he does appreciate her, in both senses of the word, in the end

I love a haughty, superior Lucius who is very naughty indeed, yet would rather whack himself with his own cane than hurt someone he cared about.

Poignant, bittersweet, yet at the end, uplifting. Draco saw Hermione clearly and was enchanted with her strength and compassion for others, something not much evident in his home. He left a hole in her heart, which Lucius could have filled if not for his lifelong limitations - his blind absorption with his own multiple agendas. I like that you didn't hurry Lucius' slow journey from self-centered blindness to the glimmer of light he finally sees, where others become real persons due to Hermione's tutelage. Hermione might not have bothered with his 'education' at all, but for her enduring love for Draco and wanting Scorpius to have a good grandfather. You gave Lucius a hint of what he could have had with Hermione, then his own arrogance lost him her generosity and he was clueless to understand how to retrieve it for himself. At the end, he began to understand his old tricks wouldn't work and he actually had to readjust his entire life view. I can't help thinking he'll be better for it and gain a new sensitivity, which will open his ( ... )

What a delightful story. I really felt the attraction grow between Lucius and Hermione. I wasn't sure if I would like it because I love Draco as well. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story!
