I just got wireless put into my computer & my dad has totally fubar-ed my computer a bit. It's got so much shit on here & it's really insane. I need an antivirus program to run but I don't want to spend $. Does ANYONE here have a program they got going for free they can send me (Over the Internet) or a site I can go to? lol I also need a ( Read more... )

if you go to downloads.com you can check out which programs are for free and not and dl them right from the website. i dont know of any off the top of my head tho. hope ur doin well..ttyl chico

I know how frustrating computer stuff can be, especially when you don't have anyone in your house that knows anything about computers. bah.

I wish i had some advice about the free anti virus stuff but i got nothing. sorry.

<3. I just got a free anti-virus program. A friend gave me the link: http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg70free_323a539.exe I ran it just a bit ago and it found one virus (in seven years, only one virus!) and deleted it. As far as I can tell, it's 100% free.

Also, if you don't already have some sort of anti-spyware program, you need one of those, too. I use Spybot Search and Destroy (if you google it, I know it'll pop up. <3). I've never had any trouble with it. The same company also makes some program that basically babysits your computer and makes sure no one tries to hack in. I'm pretty sure it's not a firewall 'cause I've never had any trouble playin' a game or whatever that gets trouble from firewalls, but it supposedly protects your computer. All that I know is that it's never stopped anything, but maybe it just hasn't had anything to stop!

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ This is the best program out there, by far. It'll take care of viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, everything!
