an AI story
damn. i don't know if you any of you watch wheel (of fortune), but if you do, you know that the bonus round is over at like 6:51 CST. the last segment of the show is always stupid pat/vanna talk-to-the-audience time. well, last night after wheel was over (i.e. the bonus round), i fell asleep.
a side note about louis: at any given moment of my life, i can fall asleep in approximately 3 minutes. i'm told this is a gift. i disagree. i mean, if it is a gift, it's not a very good one. if i were given a gift, i would definitely prefer night vision, super strength, or a plasma tv (hint, hint). i should further note that if the tv is on, my gift becomes much more powerful. that is, it might only take me about 2 minutes to fall asleep.
so that's what happened last night. wheel ends. louis snores. i wake up to hear simon say "i predict you will win this competition and sell more records than any of the other winners." obviously, i was watching american idol.
i grumble, "what? huh? what'd i miss?"
"that was awesome," my brother announces.
so yeah. damn. i missed carrie singing yesterday. i don't have a formal prediction, but i have thought she was the favorite since they came down to the final 12 -- partly because she is so talented, but mostly because she is so genuine. i was actually super pissed off when they ragged on her for singing janus joplin. it was incredible and she did exactly what they always tell the contestants to do: "make it your own." then they came down on her for singing a rock song but she didn't even sing it as rock. she looked crushed and i thought she was done. no confidence left. game over. she's come back strong now, though, and i just hope simon's prediction doesn't go straight to her head.
all that aside, i'd say i'm rooting for mikalah ... even though i don't think she has a chance in hell to make it to next week, let alone the final few.
anyway, i'm saying all this because i missed carrie last night and i want to see the performance. anyone know where i might find a spot to download the full performance?
