Gaius' apartment is located in a complex shaped like a horseshoe, with beautiful flowers and trees planted along the paths and stairways. In the horizon, the Sign is visible. Posters are framed and done up in careful calligraphy, alerting the residents that in this particular area, the anti-violence field is mostly reliable ( Read more... )

The moment they reappear J takes a quick look around before focusing once again on Gaius.

"Why thank you." Still with a large smile, she steps inside, pausing to take in her new surroundings. "It's lovely." While this could be taken as a simply courteous reply, she does take interest in the slightly odd pick and mix furnishings.

He misses the days when he could show people around his spacious, modern house with the windows and the lake and the mountains. He misses how it was perfect-- how well everything fit together.

Either way, she doesn't seem to mind, and so he grins, stepping inside after her. "It isn't anything special," he says, closing the door and slipping off his suit jacket. He rests it on a chair. "But thank you."

He makes his way over to a wine cooler, now, chatting excitedly as he goes. "I'm not sure if you're familiar with ambrosia," he says. "It's a popular drink where I come from-- very good, relatively strong. One of my favorites, in fact. I don't suppose I could interest you in a taste?"

He finds the bottle he's looking for, and holds it up for her to appraise. The liquid is a vibrant, neon green-- like any other drink you'd find in a science fiction, probably.

She raises an eyebrow and the smile widens. "It certainly looks colourful. And who am I to resist the dangerous charm of a scary looking drink?"

She laughs and slips into the nearest chair there is, legs crossing over each other and hand slipping under her chin as she watches him. "I've always been one for new things. Go ahead and pour me a glass. Please," she adds.

He gives a laugh at the 'scary drink' comment, and reaches over the counter to get two glasses. "I sincerely promise you," he says, starting to pour, "the drink will behave itself."

He hands hers over, and takes his back with him to a chair, which he then pulls closer to J. He's finding it hard to look away from her. He's entirely aware that it's possible 'she' is LOLed, but these things are easy to ignore, right? Besides, when you regularly sleep with someone you know to be a robot and a hallucination (or God's messenger, whatever), suspending your disbelief isn't all that difficult.

(And he can see Her, maybe, in the corner of his mind's eye, motionless like a wax soldier.)

To J, he forces a smile that quickly becomes genuine and raises his glass. "Cheers?"
