Lemme pull out my monitor...from midnight to 2am I have 1 unit/hour, from 2am-4am I have 1.1, and from 4am to midnight I have .95. These odd hours are mainly due to my night owl schedule and the fact that I was getting lots of way early morning lows. Honestly, after switching time zones, I just change the time and let it adjust. Maybe there's a better way to do it. I just use fast-acting insulin all day. I average around 50 units of insulin a day total, which is RELATIVELY 50/50 basal and bolus.
I usually just use 1 basal rate, and then adjust using a temp basal with a higher percentage going in all day - so tell it to increase my basal to say, 110% of what it normally is.
Important thing to note for figuring out your basals and doing a no-card day - it's a good idea, and can be useful, but I know that for me, my blood sugar will go up after a all protein and veggies meal even without carbs, because of how my body converts that to energy.
