Yunho does not know whether he should sink or swim.
Yunho realizes the hand he is reaching out to in order to save himself is the wave that is trying to take him under. Every time he looks into eyes as deep and black as the sea during a storm, he wants to give up and be taken by the next unwavering tide that rolls in.
He is now up to his neck, and a blinding smile pulls him in deeper. He tries to remember how to swim, but his arms and legs refuse to move. Similar to the tales of the unfortunate sailors compelled to their doom by an enchanting siren, Yunho falls prey to the promise of eternity and the taste of sunshine and lemon lip balm.
Finally, the water fills his lungs, and he succumbs to the tight embrace of his own personal riptide.
‘A heart is a heavy burden.’ - Sophie, Howl’s Moving Castle
Jaejoong is in the midst of an internal battle.
Inhaling deeply, Jaejoong allows the smoke to permeate his lungs and the liquor to spread the needed warmth through his body. He plays with the empty glass before him; listening to the sound of it scraping against the marble and pretends that the melting ice clinking around inside is his heart.
At some point during the night, he finds himself digging his fingers into the cotton shirt of a warm body, as if the small act could affix him to the past. Realizing his actions, he jerks away and feels the familiar burn of cold fingers brush against his bare arm. He notices that his body rejects the pleadings of his mind to leave, and instead it allows the fingers to explore the territory that they have already conquered.
’I have had more trouble with myself than with any other man I've met.’ - Dwight Moody
Yoochun wants to think he refuses to remember.
Yoochun dreams of soft embraces and the silhouettes of clouds, the problem is the superfluous drone of reality when he wakes up. His instinct tells him to reach out for a body that is not there, and when all he can grab is air, his eyes flutter open to emptiness.
When breeze comes in from the opened window, Yoochun can catch the faint whisper of lavender from the pillow that didn’t use to be his. He wonders if it is his memory playing tricks on him; either way it reminds him of the forgotten lyrics to his favorite song.
‘Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.’ - Kevin Arnold
Changmin depends on his smile as his world tumbles into darkness.
Under the starless sky, Changmin smiles at the moon as if they share a little secret. Yet unknowing to the moon, they don’t. The secret is Changmin’s to keep.
The moon did not keep her promise; the promise that the sun would take its place in the morning. Changmin’s sun was not there come morning. There was no obnoxious ray of light that disturbed him in the peace of sleep, no warmth crept under his skin. He awakened in bleak darkness.
Changmin hates the moon. For because of her, he is reminded that he no longer has his sun. His fingers itch when he remembers the urges he had to graze his fingers over the lips that always seemed to be curved into a smile big enough to compete with the Cheshire cat. His body yearns for the warmness that disregarded the extra three feet of space on the couch whenever they watched a movie. He misses the man who was more interested in the design of the character’s outfits (or lack thereof) than winning at Dead or Alive.
Nevertheless, Changmin still smiles at the moon, secretly hoping that she would answer his pleas to bring his sun back.
‘Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.’ -Anton Chekhov
Junsu does a consequence analysis on magic.
Junsu silently asks whoever wants to listen for the ability to turn back time.
Then he thinks of the consequences of messing with the past to change the future, they always seemed to be mentioned whenever anyone plays with time.
If there were no consequences, he would take away the need for forced smiles. He would bring them back to the beaches just to hear the laughter again. If there were no consequences, he would hold on and never let go again.
That would be only if there were no consequences. But reality laughs in Junsu’s face, dangling the invisible lure of magic before him an inch away from his nose; the irony of it all is that Junsu doesn’t even know, no one does. Junsu let’s the notion of magic go and focuses on present; the future will have to wait, and the past has already been done.
‘Children see magic because they look for It.’ - Christopher Moore
