Kim Jaejoong's 4 ways to flirt without saying a word.
Changmin&Yoochun (JaeChun BFFery, + hinted YunJae). PG. 1431w
Yoochun decides to exploit Jaejoong’s help in the field Jaejoong knows best, kind of.
Yoochun likes Changmin.
Changmin doesn't know it and Yoochun is oblivious in the ways of flirting.
Jaejoong is a big flirt.
Everyone knows it and that's the reason why he was the first one Yoochun went to for advice (the fact that they were best friends could have also had something to do with it.)
Jaejoong knows Yoochun had the charm and looks, he was just shy and not a particularly talkative person; he was not going to risk sending a stuttering puddle of nervousness to Changmin so he decided to take it slow.
“There are many ways to silent flirting.” Jaejoong took a bite of his ice cream cone as he leaned against the back of the bench he and Yoochun were sharing.
#1: Smile.
"Smile?" Yoochun wrinkled his forehead in confusion, or disbelief (it seemed far too easy).
"Smile for real. With teeth. It's not that hard to do." Jaejoong took Yoochun's chin in his hand. "I like your smile."
"That's all?" Yoochun frowned and winced away from Jaejoong's lotion-deprived hands.
"I never said that that was it, there are three more steps." Jaejoong smiled (for real, with teeth) and Yoochun understood why that was the first step, right as soon as he was able to calm the butterflies in his stomach.
Yoochun took Jaejoong's advice.
Every time Yoochun passed Changmin or saw him he smiled. It was innocent enough, a simple smile in acknowledgement or greeting, no pressure, no strings attached. Changmin smiled back too, but Yoochun feared that it was just out of courtesy.
It was easy (like Jaejoong had said), but it didn't seem to work as fast as Yoochun wanted. He started to doubt Jaejoong and he stopped smiling. He didn't think anything of it, but what he didn't notice were the frowns that adorned Changmin's face when he passed and wasn't greeting by the bright smile that he was use to seeing everyday.
"Are you ok?"
Yoochun looked up from his notebook and right into dark worried eyes that melted away his composure. He heard his pen drop but paid no attention to it. Jaejoong didn't tell him that this would happen. So he began to do what Jaejoong tried to avoid. Stutter.
"I'm f-f-f-fine."
"Are you sure?"
"D-d-definitely." Yoochun's fingers desperately searched for something to occupy themselves with, they only found the edges of the notebook paper.
"I'm Changmin, Shim Changmin." Changmin held out his hand. "Park Yoochun right?"
Yoochun stared at the hand for a few seconds before he reached for it and nodded.
"Nice to meet you, I'll see you around okay?"
Again at loss of words, and/or fear of stuttering again, Yoochun nodded.
"Smile Yoochun, it suits you." the image of Changmin's pearly whites burned into Yoochun's memory as the taller man walked away.
#2: Get your dog to "flirt" with his dog.
"My dog would squish his dog," Yoochun muttered as he slumped over Jaejoong's bed.
"You're making excuses." Jaejoong rolled his eyes as he continued organizing his sunglasses by color.
"No I'm not." Yoochun defended.
Jaejoong slipped a pair of black Ray Bans on, "then you're chickening out on me."
Yoochun groaned and tried to sink further into Jaejoong's comforter that smelt of laundry detergent and the familiar scent of Jaejoong.
"Trust me Chun, I’m a genius." Jaejoong putting the Ray Bans back into place, " And here," he reached for a pair of white aviators and tossed them on the bed next to Yoochun, "Wear those they look good on you."
"Wear these while dogwalking? Doesn't it seem to out of place?"
"Wearing flip flops in the middle of winter is out of place. Those aviators will do just fine."
Jaejoong sat down on the edge of the bed well aware of the doubts plastered across Yoochun’s face. "It's how Yunho and I got met, I was walking Vick and he was walking Taepoong. Later that day he showed me -“
“I don’t want to hear it.” Yoochun attempted to strangle himself with a pillow that was less fresh laundry and more scent of Jaejoong.
Yoochun took Jaejoong's advice again.
The next morning with the sun still hiding behind the towering buildings, Yoochun waited with Harang outside of his apartment. Soon, he knew, Changmin would round the corner with his Maltese, Mang Dong, either carrying it in his arms or walking it on a leash. Yoochun wanted to pretend to tie his shoe until he realized he was wearing flip flops cursing under his breath he decided instead to play around with Harang.
Changmin rounded the corner a couple of minutes later, smiling when he saw Yoochun. Mang Dong was on a leash today.
Seeming to sense another dog in the vicinity, Harang quickly sat up and looked around. When he saw Mang Dong he started tugging his leash in their direction.
“Morning,” Changmin nodded.
“Good morning.” The words were easy enough to say with out messing up.
Harang and Mang Dong started sniffing each other and playing around.
“They seem to get along pretty well, your dog is beautiful. What’s its name?”
“Harang, yours?” Yoochun was surprised with himself and his lack of stuttering.
“Mang Dong.” Changmin reached down to pet his white Maltese’s head. “Hey why don’t we walk them together, there’s a good coffee place just down the street we can get breakfast.”
“Sounds good.” Butterflies were now rampantly fluttering and beating themselves against Yoochun’s ribcage.
Yoochun mentally reminded himself to listen to whatever Jaejoong tells him to do from now on.
#3: Friend him on facebook.
“But don’t poke, never poke, it’s weird.” Jaejoong tried to explain proper Facebook etiquette to Yoochun as the other man was to busy browsing through posted pictures of Changmin to listen.
“Are you listening?” Jaejoong waved his hands in front of Yoochun’s face.
“Yeah friend him on Facebook,” Yoochun refused to tear away from the screen, “no poking, it’s done.”
“Please don’t ‘like’ every single picture of him either. That’s bordering creepy and obsessive.”
Later that night, a warm melting feeling enveloped Yoochun when he came home to a notification that informed him Changmin accepted his friend request, and ‘liked’ several of his statuses (the ones of unfinished songs he was trying to compose - they wouldn’t be unfinished for long).
#4: Touch him somewhere un-erogenous but also unnecessary.
“Watch this.” Jaejoong whispered as he swiftly slid past Yoochun to join Yunho on the couch.
Jaejoong patted the inside of Yunho’s thigh as the other man was trying to make his SIMS character take a shower. Yoochun watched as Yunho stiffened and then relax again.
“Can I help you Jaejoong?” Yunho barely looked up from his screen. Jaejoong kept his touches to a chaste rubbing near Yunho’s knees.
“Just watching you play SIMS, that outfit is terrible by the way.” Jaejoong grimaced at the tropical button up, Yunho chose for his character. “They really need to design better wardrobes.”
Yunho shrugged it off, but noticed the hand on his leg, “Do you want something Jaejoong?”
“Icecream. Strawberry. Preferably one large scoop in a cup with two spoons.”
Yoochun gawked at the scene in front of him, his mind running through the possibilities of un-erogenous touches he could pull off. There were none. He wasn’t Jaejoong.
He nixed the idea. But one day a perfect opportunity turned up. Elbow.
Yoochun found himself buried in the rush of the morning coffee rush at the café down the street from his apartment. From in between the mass of people, Changmin stuck out like a sore thumb. The tall man was slightly ahead in the line, without thinking, Yoochun reached out and grabbed his elbow. Changmin turned around quickly to see who was intruding his personal space more than it already was, but smiled when he saw Yoochun.
Yoochun forgot what happened next, all he knows is that his couch is no longer a lonely place.

A couple of weeks, five dates, four kisses later, Changmin was paging through one of his sisters Glamour magazines.
“You know you didn’t have to do all of that.”
“Do what?”
“I liked you from the beginning.”
“What are you talking about?”
“This,” Changmin pointed to an article titled, “4 ways to flirt without saying a word.”
Yoochun glared at the article, every step was what Jaejoong had gave him as advice, “When is that magazine from?”
“Four months ago. Why?”
Yoochun grumbled and went into the kitchen, "Genius my ass."
