Goodbyes Are Never Easy; Minho/Key
in which Kibum doesn't like that Minho has to miss yet another group schedule.
Author's Note: inspired by this. actually, written more because i was bitter that Minho wasn't in LA with the rest of shinee. so i just had to write myself some fluff. it really is a struggle to start writing again after i've stopped for 2 weeks? so here i am, finally (awkwardly) completing one. it's nothing much, just something i had to get out of my system, so i hope you lovely readers won't have any expectations. still, thanks for finding your way here... and i hope it'll at least make you smile. ^^
It’s Minho’s last day in Argentina and he is all ready to head to the airport for the flight back home. All that’s left to do is say his goodbye to the last person he has to say bye to and he’s off. And so, as he zips his backpack, Minho calls for the only other person in the room, who he notices has been awfully silent the entire time he was packing.
“Ki-”
A kiss on his cheek takes away Minho’s ability to speak. Surprised, Minho looks up and finds Kibum right at his side, standing closely behind him. Their eyes meet and Minho tries to complete his sentence.
“Bum, I’ve-”
Another kiss follows, this time on the corner of his lips. Minho swallows hard. No, he will not let this stop him from talking.
“I have to-”
Minho is determined, but so is Kibum; and apparently even more determined than him right now. This, Minho realises, when he is kissed right on the lips at the same time he gets pushed down to sit on the bed.
Minho’s eyes widen, his hands naturally come to rest on Kibum’s hips, as the blond moves to stand between his legs.
“Kibum, what are you-”
Minho is forced to shut up once again when Kibum reaches to tilt his chin up and kisses him long and deep.
Minho doesn’t know why Kibum is this affectionate but he’s definitely not complaining. There is one thing at the back of his mind though. As much as he wants to, he really doesn’t have the luxury of time to continue this any further. In fact, Minho knows he has to leave some time soon. So when he feels Kibum’s knee rubbing against his crotch, Minho purposely closes his legs tightly to stop Kibum from teasing and quickly breaks the kiss.
“Bum, I’m supposed to leave-”
“I know.” Kibum cuts Minho short as he leans forward to reconnect their lips.
Their lips meet briefly but Minho forces himself to move away before it can linger on. Holding Kibum still, Minho slowly stands up as he laughs breathlessly and shakes his head at his boyfriend.
“You’re staying so you won’t get in trouble but I will if I don’t leave in the next minute.”
“Do I look like I care?” Kibum retorts before he looks away unhappily and toys with the button of Minho’s jeans, “It’s not the first time you’ve got in trouble anyway...”
“Kibum...” Minho cups Kibum’s cheek so he can meet his eyes, “What’s wrong? Aren’t you always the happiest when I’m not around to pester you?”
Kibum stays silent.
“If you have nothing to say, I’m going to...” Minho removes his hands from Kibum and stands straight, making his intention to leave obvious.
“Just don’t want you to leave...” Kibum finally mutters, “You’ll be missing out on all the fun we’ll have in LA.”
“Bum?” Minho is honestly surprised because Kibum doesn’t usually seem bothered with stuff like this.
“I mean, do you know that we have to change the choreography? And that I have to take over all your parts?” Kibum questions loudly, showing his annoyance instead.
Minho knows this is Kibum’s way to tell him that he’ll be missing him. And Minho loves it... the fact that Kibum wants him to stay is making Minho all happy inside.
“I’m sorry I have to go...” Minho says, smiling fondly at Kibum, “And I’m sorry you have to rap more than you wish to, bum, but I know you’ll be fine.”
“Of course I’ll be fine...” Kibum agrees and adds, “I’ll probably do a better job than you too.”
Minho decides to let that go for the time being and pretends that Kibum is right, “Mmm... so can I go now?”
When Minho gets a glare from Kibum, he can’t help but laugh out loud.
“Even if you get angry, there’s nothing I can do... I really have to leave.” Minho says.
“You’ll regret going back to Seoul earlier.” Kibum mumbles.
“I already am.”
“I don’t like this.”
“Me too.” Minho replies as he pulls Kibum into a hug, “I’ll see you soon alright. It’s only going to be a few days.”
“You seem like you’re perfectly fine with this.” Kibum says into Minho’s shirt, wrapping his arms tightly around him and refusing to let him go.
“I’m acting.” Minho replies before he kisses Kibum’s hair and jokes, “I’m actually crying inside.”
Kibum opens his mouth wide to bite Minho playfully on his shoulder. “Not funny.”
Minho chuckles, “Take care while I’m away... Your lips are going to get especially dry since I’m not around to kiss you.”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” Kibum finally releases Minho from his hug with a scoff.
“Right... I forgot your strawberry lip gloss does the trick too.” Minho teases as he picks up his backpack.
Kibum rolls his eyes and decides not to say anything else as he walks Minho to the door. They both naturally stop just before the door and Minho closes the distance between them to kiss Kibum goodbye.
“Seriously though, take care of yourself alright?”
Kibum nods, biting his bottom lip to stop himself from pouting.
“Have fun in LA, and tell me all about it when you’re free. Go ahead and make me jealous. I’ll be waiting.”
Kibum sighs, “I will... text me when you’ve reached home safely.”
Minho nods, “Alright... I’m off.”
Minho pushes the door handle down and opens the door, “See you soon, baby. Don’t miss me too much.”
Kibum smiles bitterly as he watches Minho go.
It’s a little too late though... He’s already missing him.
Two days later, Kibum realises he should take Minho’s words seriously.
Indeed, his lips are chapped, painfully so.
When he skypes with Minho and his idiot of a boyfriend makes kissy faces at him in attempt to comfort him after saying a big “I told you so”, Kibum is torn between ending the video call or watching his boyfriend be the adorable idiot he is. Eventually, Kibum opts for the latter (he misses his boyfriend too much). When Minho cheekily promises to take good care of his lips once he gets back to Seoul, Kibum decides he’ll definitely make Minho fulfill his promise and make up for lost time.
