NAME. Ida Fairbrook Wingates
AGE & D.O.B. January 18th, 1991
GRADE. 11th
GPA. 4.0
EXTRACURRICULARS. None yet. Considerably interested in girls lacrosse.

DESCRIPTION. Integral is tall for her age and gender at 5’9”, and slender. Though she appears to be almost frail, her body is very much cultivated consciously. Growing up, she was required to train in gymnastics, fencing, and Taekwondo. She moves with a trained grace, but has a hard, almost violent edge to her that is at odds with her appearance when she wishes. Her eyes seem older than the rest of her in a cold sort of way, but when she does relax and seem happy, it is a joyous, full thing. Ida has blonde hair and blue eyes, and pale skin (in a generic white girl way, not a “I am creepy and never leave the potions dungeon” way).

She often wears very old fashioned things, from high waisted pencil skirts and blouses to thick heeled Mary Jane shoes. Part of her would prefer to dress purely utilitarian, but she has come to a point in her life where she WILL look better than everyone else in the room just to spite her upbringing and she is not going outside without her perfect finger wave SO HELP HER GOD.

PICTURE BASE. Evan Rachel Wood

PERSONALITY. Ida is more or less recovered from her childhood weirdness - though the intense training and life on the run her father put her through did damage her, it also set her up to be very strong and capable of making adjustments. She is sometimes depressed without her father, and wishes he could have just been happy and not paranoid, she has managed to not come out completely warped from the situation.

Ida was raised without the feminine touch, and can come off a little harsh and overly blunt. She loathes failure, particularly in herself, be it in grades, sports, or in a dare. She is a particularly intense young woman, having grown up too fast. She often struggles to balance her desire to be treated like an adult and her teenage emotions and shortcomings. Her classy exterior hides a girl with a wild streak, and she has no problem partying.

HISTORY. Ida was born in London, England, and it would have been a joyful occasion had her mother not died in childbirth from blood loss. The absence of Ida’s mother in her life became a deciding factor in her upbringing, for her death pushed her father over an edge he never recovered from.

Ida’s father, Arthur, had been a mentally disturbed man most of his life. His own father, Abraham, had been a very successful lawyer with a less than successful hobby: he moonlighted as a private paranormal and occult investigator. It was something he was passionate about, and gained some moderate recognition for in his social circle. The majority of his escapades were debunking missions, though over the course of his career he had a few stories that would make a decent Sci Fi channel special. His oddball profession was hallmarked primarily by the collection of (supposedly) occult-related artifacts antiques he built up over the years, as well as the dramatically and drastically over-embellished stories he brought home to his sons.

When Abraham died, he left not only his considerable estate but the control of the “family business” to his oldest son, Arthur, with instructions to “take care” of his younger son, Richard. This was generally seen as a poor move - Arthur, as has been noted, was largely unwell, though Abraham had refused to see it, unable to accept that his oldest son was sick. Arthur quickly lost himself in a fantasy world where his small paranormal agency was a royally ordained organization, and that he and his family were being hunted by Nazis. Aside from that, he was a kind, charming man - he just thought he was a vampire hunter locked in epic combat with future Nazis of doom. He married a woman named Irina, who loved him enough to look after him, manage the estate, and keep him from declaring war on imaginary vampiric Nazi Germany for many years. She was aided by a man named Walter, who had been Abraham’s assistant since the start of the agency, and who had stayed on to keep an eye on things.

When Irina died, Arthur lost it. Walter was unable to talk him out of his paranoid states. He raised his daughter to be a demon hunter, a warrior against the forces of evil - which meant he moved her around the country constantly, made her train in martial arts, fencing, ect, and would never allow her to keep friends or play like a normal child. Ida’s only reprieve was Walter, who stayed and took care of her as best he could. Ida knew her father was unwell, and that none of it was real, though she often cried and had panic attacks when her father was away, both from the suppression of reality and pressure to perform to imaginary standards and the fear that he would lose his mind entirely and never return. Ida loved her father very much, despite it all. At Walter’s suggestion (and supervision), she kept a lot of pen pals and lead an active internet life, because she could have friends there no matter where she moved.

When Ida was thirteen, her father got into a freak car accident and died. It was then that Ida met her uncle Richard, who had come to collect the inheritance he felt owed. Unfortunately for him, before Irina’s death, the late Mrs. Wingates had convinced Arthur to adjust his will: on his death, everything was left to Irina or, in her absence, his oldest child. If the child was not old enough to appropriate the estate, control would fall to Walter, who was instructed to care for the heir until he or she was of age.

Even though Richard threatened all kinds of lawsuits and even bodily harm, Walter promptly took Ida away to Canada, where she spent some time at a real school and in lots and lots of therapy. They eventually relocated to Minnesota, because for legal issues they needed to be somewhere where both Walter and Ida had at least dual citizenship.

FAMILY. Mother: Irina (deceased). Father: Arthur (deceased). Uncle: Richard (skeezebag). Legal guardian: Walter (not a skeezebag).

OTHER. Ida is financially well off due to her inheritance and a little spoiled. Walter feels like she should be able to have whatever she wants in life to make up for her ridiculous childhood in which she was dragged around everywhere and lived in jeans and combat boots because “the Nazis could attack at ANY TIME!” She is trained in fencing, gymnastics, and Taekwondo. Though she gave up rigorous studying when her father died, she does still pursue such things at her own leisure out if ingrained habit.

Though she was born in London, she traveled a lot in her childhood, worldwide. Many of her developmental years were spent in New York, in America, which leads to her notable lack of English accent. Due to this, she often sounds awkward when speaking, because her inflection doesn’t seem to match up to any standard accent, though she is otherwise very articulate and educated.
