Current Issues
What do you think about:
5) World Involvement in Iraq: There's too much to say about this and not enough space. I think that right after 9/11 everyone was vulnerable and in search of a "hero" and George Bush came in and said he could solve everything by war and everyone was so grateful because they finally thought they could be safe. But we're not any safer I don't think. George Bush should have been more patient and waited for the UN's help instead of rushing in this with, what I think, is no plan. And don't blame France, poor France.
6) Cloning and Stem Cell Research: I don't believe people should be cloned but I see no problem in looking into stem cell research, if there's something out there that can help a lot of people that were not helping now then that needs to be looked into. Wow, that was a confusing sentence.
7) Same-Sex Marriage: I'm a Catholic and the Pope's stand on this issue is that same sex marriage is wrong. I disagree, love IS love, our government should have no say on who marries who. It's not the government's job to be a "moral watchdog" it's the government's job to be fair and just to ALL people.
8) Internet Filesharing: I illegally download music and I rarely feel bad about it. CD's have gotten so expensive, it's ridiculous, I use limewire and then itunes then burn CD's. Plus, sharing is caring.
9) The Death Penalty: I'm against the death penalty. I think a bigger punishment is staying in prison and having to live with that every single day and being miserable in prison. But what's up with all these new prisons? TV's in the cells and nice food and fun exercise time? No, that's wrong.
10) The Quality of Journalism and the Need for TruthObjectivity in News: It's hard to know the truth about what's going on. As my AP English teacher said, it's somewhat like in 1984 by Orwell, the truth just keeps changing and changing and there are no records of the previous truths. It's hard to know who and what to believe. One side says one thing, the other side says the complete opposite. Freedom of the press is a really important part of democracy.
11) New Cabinet Appointees: Yeah, I don't know too much about this. Although the fact that Bush is bringing in more "extreme conservative" people to work with him is not very reassuring. At all.
12) Religious Zealots: Not a good thing. Balance, balance, balance! I don't even like those people who come to your doorstep and pound on your door and insist on talking to you about their church. Whatever religion someone practices (or doesn't practice) is their own business and no one else's.
Intellect
13) Name a book or movie that changed your life, or at least really made you think. Why (or How)? My favorite book is Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. I read it first in 7th grade and at the time probably couldn't appreciate everything in it, seeing as it is a coming of age story. I understand its significance a lot more now. I love Holden, he's so easy to relate too. He's earnest but silly. I really should read more of Salinger's books but haven't had the time yet.
14) Name 3 books you have read in the last year (be honest): Yes I must expose my horrid habit right now! I read tons of Danielle Steel books which are romance. And I love every second of it. And usually cry at the end of them. But anyway, I've read Lord of the Flies by Golding, 1984 by Orwell and many Danielle Steel books (Zoya, Jewels, Granny Dan, Mirror Image, The Wedding...)
15) Who is your favorite artist and why? (Yes; this is a very broad question. It could be a painter, musician, actor, writer, ect.) That's really hard, I love music, just about every kind of music. So I could say my favorite musician was Usher or something, because I do like Usher but one of my more timeless favorites is Sinatra. You can feel the nostalgia in his voice, I love it. I even listen to my Sinatra Christmas CD all year long. :) And Orwell is an amazing author, at the beginning of 1984 I really wanted to just skim it and get it over with but I began to get into it and loved it. It's amazing how similar some of the things in the book are to how we live today.
16) Cite a quote or song lyric that relates to you or your life and explain why:
I'm going to post lyrics to the whole song, if that's okay, because it's probably one of my all time favorite songs and I couldn't decide what part to pick out of it.
Back in school they never taught us what we needed to know,
like how to deal with despair, or someone breaking your heart.
For twelve years I've held it all together but a night like this is begging to pull me apart.
I played it quiet, left you deep in conversation.
I felt uncool and hung out around the kitchen.
I remember I kept thinking that I know you never would,
and now I know I want to kill you like only a best friend could.
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to.
As if this happening wasn't enough I got to go
and write a song just to remind myself how bad it sucked.
Ignore the sun, the cover's over my head.
I wrote a message on my pillow that says, "Jesse, stay asleep in bed."
So don't apologize. I hope you choke and die.
Search your cell for something with which to hang yourself.
They say you need to pray if you want to go to heaven
but they don't tell you what to say when your whole life has gone to hell.
Everyone's caught on to everything you do
Everyone's caught on to
And everyone's caught on to everything you do (And I can't let you, let me down again.)
Everyone's caught on to (And I can't let you, let me down again)
So, is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with.
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish.
I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids.
Have another drink and drive yourself home.
I hope there's ice on all the roads.
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt,
and again when your head goes through the windshield.
And is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back.
So let's end this call, and end this conversation.
and is that what you call a getaway?
well tell me what you got away with.
cause you left the frays from the ties you severed
when you say best friends means friends forever
So, is that what you call a getaway?
Well tell me what you got away with.
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish.
I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids.
Have another drink and drive yourself home.
I hope there's ice on all the roads.
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt,
and again when your head goes through the windshield.
Everyone's caught on to everything you do (And I can't let you, let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to (And I can't let you, let me down again)
And everyone's caught on to everything you do (And I can't let you, let me down again)
Everyone's caught on to (And I can't let you, let me down again)

This is one of those songs that I can just blast and scream along to, I love it. I think what makes good music is music that you can relate to and this song makes me think about my good old pal (or not) Evan who was just a prat. One of those things when you meet a guy when you're 14 and he's 18 and you absolutely adore him and then...it all goes downhill from there. It's a story for another time.
About You
17) Label your political standpoint: I wish I could've voted in this election! Democrat.
18) If had to dedicate yourself to one issue or cause, what would it be? I'd be an advocate for special education children, I've helped out in special ed classrooms for psychology before and I know that they deserve more attention and care then they are getting. When I get older I'd like to either be a special ed teacher or a 2nd/3rd grade teacher. What makes me really mad is when people make fun of those in special ed, it's so cruel.
19) If you could meet anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why? I think I'd like to meet Marilyn Monroe and ask her what it was like to be, well, Marilyn Monroe! I'd ask her life was like, beginning till end. She was such an interesting person. I think I'd ask her if it was all worth it, if in the end all of the fame was worth the price it costed her.
20) If you were to die today, what would have been your greatest achievement? That's an odd question. I think the fact that I stick up for people who no one else sticks up for is one of my greatest achievements. I know that's not very specific, I got honors in middle school and student of the month and was in soccer and gymnastics but none of that's really important. I'd much rather be known for, if anything, the fact that I stuck up for people when they were being made fun of.
21) What are you passionate about? Being a teacher. I've wanted to become a teacher since I was five.
22) What disgusts you more than anything? People who backstab. Gosh. And girls, girls really annoy me even though I am one. I can't stand people who are nice to your face and mean behind your back, or people who make fun of someone because of how they look, or people who they know won't fight back. And racism. People who are mean for no reason.
23) If you had to choose, who would you rather let die: 100 cute puppies, or 1 grimy homeless man? I'd have a hard time letting the 100 cute puppies die but I'd have to save the grimy homeless man.
24) How do you measure success? When someone is truly happy with their life and who they are inside.
Further Thinking
25) Are humans alone in the universe? Nope. There must be something else out there, no idea what though.
26) Who was Shakespeare, really? A timeless playwright.
27) What is the meaning of life? To have a good time and do something with your life that you love and makes you happy.
28) Can there be love without hate, and vice versa? No, because if there was no hate we'd never know what love is.

31) What did you think of this application? It EXHAUSTED me, I must've started this thing three or four times and then it was just so long so I clicked out and then I was like, for New Year's I should really finish it and see how it works out. I did this for myself and not for anyone to say how smart/not smart I am. I know I'm young and I still have a lot to learn but this application really made me think. It was more of a personal challenge but if I get in then that's great too.

(This used to be optional, but it is now required) 3-6 Pictures of you or things that represent you:)
I made these from "paint" and had a pretty good time with them. I wish my digital camera was working and if it were I'd post pictures of me but it's not working right now and I had no idea what to do! So I made pictures, they're fun, even if your second grade brother could do better (I know mine could!)
