Current Issues

What do you think about:
5) World Involvement in Iraq: The world shouldn't be involved. It's their problem, if they want to deal with it. We're also losing a lot of soldiers over there because they're killing us off. Well, hmmm...Doesn't that show that they don't want us there????? Millions of dollars and thousands and innocent soldiers lives have been lost in Iraq. Why are we still over there? Hint Hint, President Bush.
6) Cloning and Stem Cell Research: I think it should be allowed. After all, figuring out how humans work will allow us to develop cures for diseases we had no idea how to cure before. Learning how the body is and works will also help us improve the body, with smaller side effects when we have to take medicine. We also may be able to figure out how to prevent deadly diseases like AIDS.
7) Same-Sex Marriage: They're people too. Male/Male or Female/Female, either way, they see something in the other person that they like and admire. 3% of our US population is openly homosexual. And that doesn't seem like much, but saying that we have about 293 million, or more people in the US, then that's about 300,000 people who are OPEN about it. Imagine the rest of the people who hide their sexuality! And they hide it for a good reason, I suppose. Did you know that homosexual people aren't allowed in the military and allowed to be open about it? Just because their gay. It’s the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” rule. ..And here I thought honesty was valued in our country. It's a stupid rule, and it singles out people. But, back to the point, same sex marriages should be allowed. Bush wants to ban same-sex marriages, and I sincerely hope he doesn’t succeed in that plan.
8) Internet Filesharing: I guess it's alright, if you really want to risk it. We all know it's illegal, so why do it? And it's really terrible because the companys that make the file sharing programs don't get sued for what goes through their system. If you read their disclaimer it says "All Material shared is your own responsibility. We take no part in what is shared." If you really want to risk it, then I guess it's your own action, which will come with it's own reprocussion.
9) The Death Penalty: It should be allowed, but only for SERIOUS crimes! Not for a small theft or something of that sort. Only when that person has taken another's life. We don't want to risk them getting out again and killing more people. And only first-degree murder as well. Third or accomplice wouldn't count, as they really didn't actually KILL them. But this should be allowed. We need to teach people that there IS repercussions for their actions, and hopefully make them stop committing such crimes, since nothing else seems to drill it into these people’s heads.
10) The Quality of Journalism and the Need for Truth in News: It's really sad when our world's entertainment is to read lies and gossip about it. But sadly, that's what most of our world has come to. Have you ever seen a check-out stand? Ours has about 6 tabloids and a couple housekeeping magazines. I always thought it was fun to flip through them. It still is. One of them claimed that Julia Robers was an alien from outer space. I had the hardest time keeping myself from laughing as I read that article. Anyone who would actually believe that probably should be shot.
11) New Cabinet Appointees: I don't pay too much attention to this, as I already know our country is doomed. Bush was re-elected. All the libraries in the United States are going to be banned. But still, our world has gone to crap. I swear, the dumbasses have taken over. Did you know that the children's book The Loorax by Dr. Seuss has been banned from schools? Now how much of a problem is that little book going to cause?? I guess a lot, because they've banned The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Scarlet Letter as well.
12) Religious Zealots: ...That's sad. I can understand believing in God, even though, I myself don't, but when you start to become obsessed is when it gets really bad. Being obsessed with something that might not even be there is another one of those things that only idiotic people would do.

Intellect

13) Name a book or movie that changed your life, or at least really made you think. Why (or How)? Pay It Forward. I love that movie. It really has a meaning to it, unlike many things that have been put out anymore. I like the idea of helping people and that person will help another. Sadly, the boy Trevor, died in the end. If you've never seen that movie, you really should. Especially if you want a movie with a meaning.
14) Name 3 books you have read in the last year (be honest): The Giver, Flowers for Algernon, The Scarlet Letter
15) Who is your favorite artist and why? (Yes; this is a very broad question. It could be a painter, musician, actor, writer, ect.) I like Anne Rice. She's quite respectable, and well-known to many, whether you know her name or not. Vampire lovers would know her name, as she's most famous for writing books on vampires. And her books Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned have been turned into movies. I repsect her because she's was writing about something that everyone else believed was pagan, and she kept at it. She didn't let other's opinions get to her.
16) Cite a quote or song lyric that relates to you or your life and explain why:
Perfect by nature,
Icons of self indulgence,
Just what we all need,
More lies about a world that...
-Evanescence: Everybody's Fool

These lyrics relate to me because the rest of the song keeps going about how this person has fooled everyone with no guilty conscience, but how Amy Lee can see right through it all. I believe that this world is blind. Blind to how they act, and blind to how they're destroying their own planet. Blind to how stupid they can be as well.

About You

17) Label your political standpoint: I don't have much of a standpoint, but I guess you could say I'm a democrat, since I was for Kerry. He wasn't completely against gay marriage, or abortion, although I can see the fact that he did switch his opinion a bit. But as long as it wasn't all the time, that's a good thing, because it shows that he learned from the information he gathered what point he wanted to be on. I don't like Bush too much, well, not at all, but I'm not going to run off to Canada, or kill myself over it.
18) If had to dedicate yourself to one issue or cause, what would it be? I'd dedicate myself to teaching people. I cause you could call that the cause of education. We need to educate our people, as many of them seem to need it. Because if school boards think not telling kids about sex will promote abstinence...Now really, if you DON'T know the dangers of sex, aren't you more likely to participate in it?
19) If you could meet anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why? I'd want to meet Amy Lee of Evanscence. I would like to figure out how she sings so well. I can sing, but it's nothing like her, and I get extremely jealous, so I'd just want to learn how to sing like her. But she's also a very likeable person, and I'd like to see how she gets along with everyone else.
20) If you were to die today, what would have been your greatest achievement? My greatest achievement would have been my support. I support all of my friends when they have problems, and they're always having problems, so if I was to die, they'd miss that dearly, and might be lost for awhile. But my greatest achievement would have been all the advice I've given my friends, whether in real life, or online.
21) What are you passionate about? I'm passionate about my flute and my writing. I love to write, and I like critisism on my work as well, as long as it's constructive, and not "OMGZ! I HATE UR RITING!" ...*shudders* ..I like being told what would be nice to fix, or maybe spelling errors that I've made. And I love to play my flute as well, because I'm pretty good at it. I've gone to five honor bands in the last three years since I've started playing, and I've gotten the highest rating possible on my last three flute solos, which only three people get in the entire middle school.
22) What disgusts you more than anything? Uneducated people. As in, a person who can't figure out how to play a video game when it tells you EXACTLY what to do on the screen. It just makes me want to take a knife to their throat, although I'd never do that..
23) If you had to choose, who would you rather let die: 100 cute puppies, or 1 grimy homeless man? Oddly enough, I'd choose to let the puppies die, if I was forced to. Preferably, I wouldn't want either of them to die. But I'd choose the man because he'd be able to be nursed back to health, and turn into a regular man, and I can't stand to see a human run over, or puppies, but puppies are killed all the time. Being put to sleep, or run over, either way, they're killed all the time.
24) How do you measure success? Success is measured by how good you feel about it. If you don't feel like you did very much to help anyone, then you're not successful. If you only did a small task, yet you feel like you've helped society, then you're successful. If you haven't gotten anywhere, and feel terrible about what you've done, then you've failed.

Further Thinking

25) Are humans alone in the universe? I don't think we are. Although we haven't found the other life, I bet there is other life in the universe, even though we may not have found an examples of it. There has to be. How can we be the only people in this universe? It does make sense that we're the only people that have been created..I think if we could get the technology to get to other planets, we'd probably have more of a chance of finding other life.
26) Who was Shakespeare, really? Just a writer. A very good writer, might I add. He must have seen quite deeply into the meaning of life, or had seen a lot in his lifetime to write such beautiful stories like Romeo and Juliet. Many of his novels are still famous now, and are a requirement to read. He was an excellent writer with a lot of knowledge about many different subjects that he included in his writing with an expansive vocabulary that isn't known to many people anymore.
27) What is the meaning of life? The meaning of life. To me, the meaning of life is to make another's life worthwhile. To cheer someone up, or find a cure to cancer to keep so many people from dying. My idea of the purpose to life would be let someone live longer. Like if someone was going to commit suicide, I'd be there to tell them not to. That's my idea to of the meaning of life: To keep another's life going longer.
28) Can there be love without hate, and vice versa? Yes there can. It's easy to love without hating, and hate without loving. To me, at least. Sure, there are things that you may love about your enemies, or there are things you may hate about your lover, but sometimes there will be a special person that you will find no fault in, so that would be counted as love without hate. I've had that happen once, so I know it can happen.

Finally

31) What did you think of this application? I think that it actually made me think, unlike many of the applications that are out there anymore. It also took quite a lot more time, but I'm hoping it was all for a good reason.
