Fandom Women & SLS, Manhattan, January 2007
There are so many equally amazing aspects to the trip, that I am still kind of whirling from the whole experience: Meeting other Lj'ers, Being in Manhattan, shopping and eating, and of course...Seeing SLS and Gale.
Well, in a word, beautiful.
Gale is beautiful.
He is overwhelmingly beautiful.
He is also so NOT Brian and that is a little disorienting.
He appears cautious, and sweet, and friendly, and a little insecure.
For this reason, I really have a deep and new understanding for happier_bunny's position of not wanting to hear about Gale Harold. It was truly disorienting to see him and have him be SO far and away different than Brian Kinney.
And as much as I have become almost a devotee of the form of Gale Harold, I sincerely love the character of Brian Kinney.
Anyway, enough rambling, on with the weekend recap.
Everybody has written about his uninspired performance, but that is NOT
my opinion whatsoever. Both the play, and Gale were totally engaging. He was believable, played a central pivotal role, and he delivered his material in a powerful way. At times, he actually moved a lot like Brian which set off my inner squee.
The second night we were in the front row center and he was like 3 feet from me for 90 minutes.It took my breath away. I seriously have not yet recovered.
But he was SO beautiful, I honestly cannot find the words that fits
the experience. Truly his skin glowed when I met him after the show
when he was signing autographs. He was wearing a black cap with a brim
covering all of his blonde hair so he really looked like himself. He
signed my program:
To Robin, Love, Gale Harold.
I said "OMG. Gale harold! I adore you! Congratulations on everything."
He said "Thank you, thanks for coming."
"Can I give you a hug?"
"Well, I'm kind of sick, but OK."
So we exchanged a tender embrace.
*swoon*
and then I think I blacked out for a minute.
Later, we all joked that I probably got some of Gale's germs/phlegm,
and probably caught his cold, which is you know, almost like having
his baby.
*sings* Having my virus....
His DNA is inside me now replicating. LOL.
Hence, I am with virus.
Getting together with the fandom women was also absolutely amazing.
We had such a wonderful time.
I really enjoyed meeting my new face to face friends shadownyc, ,pepino21786,sexy_pumpkin, hansardgal, sevigny7, sarahj2222, tempest1, koalared, silent_seas, and testdog65.
We had a lovely lunch together in the theatre district and got a chance to get to hang out and know each other.
It was a pleasure to once again see fansee, I really enjoy you and your sence of humor.
For some reason, a few of us really seemed to click and get on the same page very quickly.
A wild, a very wild weekend was had with triciaqaf, paddies, flamencanyc, xie_xie_xie and well, Me.
I love each of you.
For Flame, how small a world for us to actually have a very close friend in common? Woah.
To Gio, the beauty who did a sexy photo shoot on my bed.... Gale walked off with his sexy Blonde Mom right?
And Tricia, who practically bumped face to face right into Gale,....all I can say is bring your sexy back.
And Xie, you are simply a goddess, my destined partner in crime. I love you darling.
