Public transport woe

So, I organised to go and see my friend who lives in a town in Suffolk this weekend. In lieu with 'try and use alternative transport' and 'I don't really want to drive in the dark on Friday night' I looked up trains and buses and what have you

Every so often I think that I should figure out how to take transit to get to work and back - and then I look it up and realize that a 15 minute trip would take 2 hours and involve 3 busses plus walking for 40 minutes.

It just doesn't seem feasible!
