some meandering crap about what I have gleaned from life's horror

I have been thinking pretty hard, and I need to learn a trade. Something that keeps me from being classified as "unskilled labor". You can bust your ass all day at a retail job and even work your way up through management, but if you get cut loose, guess what? You're unemployed and fucking UNSKILLED. Sure, you have some experience in vomit- ( Read more... )

wow, we actually agree on something.

My biggest problem with the education system is how you leave it without any usefull skill beyond reading and basic math - which you have done pretty much by elementary school.

yeah about that. given my experience, just cause you have graduated from high school does not mean you can deal with basic math and reading.

hell. i've come across people working towards a masters degree who can barely read.

I think college is good if you go to do something you can use like science, engineering, COMPUTERSZZZ. Don't end up like me! But I have found that few people do the whole, go to college, have one major, finish in 4 years, get a job, stay there for a billion years, pop out babies, live eternity in wedded bliss thing. That's like one of them tall tales. Keep on truckin'.

there have been times where i wanted to say "fuck it" and go learn a trade. i've thought either carpentry or basic electrical work.

then i smartened up and kept being good with computers.

you'll also note that i have no post secondary education.

I am leaning towards electrical. I could do computers at the place I am probably going to go, but their program sucks really bad. The electrical program, on the other hand, is the best around and they make it a point to place EVERYONE that graduates into a job. A relatively high-paying job.

I'm pretty excited.
