We'll start with the book "Weapons of Choice".  In the book, experiments in teleportation throw a multinational fleet from 2021 back to 1942, just in time to interfere with the battle of Midway.  I could buy the story.  They even explain it as an "alternate universe" thing instead of a true time-travel story.  I can buy that.
