if it makes you feel any better, the prognosis is best for the french quarter, the flooding hasn't been as bad there b/c most of it is above sea level. we have reservations there for april, i was tempted to cancel them but i'm trying to stay hopeful.
i know how you feel though, it's all so sad. and seeing the aerial shots of gulfport/biloxi floored me, the bridge where adam proposed to me is gone, and keesler took a good bit of damage too.
Oh, wow. That so sucks, especially about the bridge.
The French Quarter is getting destroyed by looting, from what I understand. :/ And I'm afraid it's only going to get worse there, because the lifeblood of the Quarter is tourism, which isn't going to be happening again in New Orleans for some time. I'm afraid that it's going to go from a relatively safe, historic place to an urban jungle of poverty.
I don't know if you would want to or not.. But I am...
I am going to send letters to all the senators and stuff of the surrounding states and beg them to send the soldiers of the families affected by the hurricane that are homeless and starving to send their spouses home so they can help.
That's a pretty good idea. Especially those from Keesler whose spouses are/were TDY.. I can't even imagine what it would be like to go through that sort of thing without your spouse, or even, for that kind of thing to happen TO your spouse and you be a world away, unable to help.
