1. They check out your artwork and get to know some things about you.
2. They check a sheet that says "accept portfolio" or "do not accept portfolio"
3. They tell you whether your portfolio is "their kind of art" or if it is good enough to get in. In my cases, SFAI said my art wasn't their kind, KCAI accepted my portfolio, as long as I got more real life drawings.
Its really simple.
And for the scholarships? Get good grades. 75% of admission is paid by scholarships given because you have a 3.0 or higher. Most art schools will admit without acedemic probation for anything above a 2.0.
If they accept your portfolio, fill out the application, fafsa, all the apps for the scholarships, everything BEFORE JANUARY.
If not, search around for other art schools and figure out how to get them your stuff.
Good luck.
