It was the 87th Independence Day of Finland today. A Finnish friend of mine came for a visit in the morning and she will stay here until Wednesday. It was great to spend this day with another Finn :) I can't quite express what this day means for us. It is especially the day for being grateful for all of those men and women who managed to keep ( Read more... )

Hi! Sure I remember you. Too bad I didn't get the chance to talk to you more. There were so many people and we were sitting so far apart. But, I hope we will meet again.

Yes, I am pretty happy about having all presents that I needed to buy. Now I just need to mail a few more Christmas cards and I am done! *woohoo* What are you doing for Christmas? Is this your first Christmas away from the US?

No plans really for Christmas other than a family dinner I believe .. but it will be my first Christmas away from the States. It's very tough! I miss it badly .. I miss the hustle and bustle and things ..

I hope we get the chance to meet again too! Maybe next time we can chat more :) Take care!

Oh, it will be difficult for you, I am sure! I was last home for Christmas in 1999! That is loooooong time ago! But last year we were in the Czech Republic for Christmas and I loved it because there was snow! Exactly what I needed for Christmas :)

Of course I won't mind, just the opposite! Nice to meet you!

I have actually visited your page also sometimes but I didn't leave a message then, although I intended to do that. So, you are married to a Dutchie also :) How did you two meet? And what has made you so interested in Finland? Just curious here :)

I hope to visit Switzerland also sometimes. Until now I have just driven through a couple of times but it sure is beautiful out there. My dog's half sister lives in Switzerland and I hope to visit her and her family some day. You know, my dog is of Finnish breed, which is not very common outside of Finland.

Which places have you been to in Finland?

I'm so happy that you and your friend had such a great time. I look forward to some of my family and friends coming over from the States so I can show them around.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time celebrating Finnish Independence. I love learning about traditions and cultures of other countries. Sad to say I learned so little while living in the states.

Hope you have a great upcoming weekend. I've got to finish my Christmas cards and do some Christmas shopping myself. I was out today for a little while and bought Marcel the newest U2 cd that he was really wanting. He'll be surprised I'm sure.

Now to just figure out what else I'm going to get him.

*hugs*
