Sorry,but you would think that if they saw the potential for this, they would have done something.Taken some preventative measure.

Actually what happened was the water did rise over the levees in a couple of spots. The breaks resulted from water first overtopping weakened portions of the levee. The rush of water as it beaks over the top causes rapid erosion and a cascading faliure.

This is not spooky. This was a given. Don't build on fault lines, don't build on barrier islands, and don't build 30 feet under sea level. If you do you have know one to blame but yourself, when your plasma screen gets washed out to sea and your toddler is burried under sand. The Mississippi River doesnt want to be right there anymore, but they force it to stay. The water wants to wander, not be held back. Everyone knew that if there was a hurricane that hit New Orleans it would suck. There was the same worry last year
