I warn you that they're all a bit pants because there is sooo much rain. I was just quickly snapping photos because I was so wet and cold. There's a lot of blurriness that I didn't see when taking them and muchos rain today. Too much. *shakes fist at Scotland*. Sorry >_> But we're going back one day :P Better pictures then!
Anyway, this is Caldwell House in Uplawmoor outside Glasgow. It's an absolutely huge estate and, although we're not 100% sure what happened to it, we've gathered evidence (harhar) and think we have a story behind it. I'm going to check the internet to be sure about this. Anyway, my uncle's client (don't know his name) apparently owns or used to own this estate (it's veeery confusing) and my step-dad and I think he raised the rent to drive out everyone living there previously. Because it's such an old building he probably had to keep it in a certain condition and, guessing by what I've seen, he didn't so I think he's being forced by the government to sell it. Which is where my step-dad's client comes in. He might be buying it and apparently it will cost over £7 million (about $13 million) and will only be worth about £1 million once it's done up.
So, enough about what's happening with it now. At first I'm assuming (by the name) this used to just be a very fancy house :P After that it's been a hospital. I'm afraid that's all I know...
The estate is fecking huuuge! And there are abandoned buildings left, right and center! But I'll explain as I go along :P
There are pictures of the inside here-
http://www.turbozutek.f2s.com/thumbnails.php?album=100 More information.
History. That's a bit creepy becuse we found a toy bus there...
More pictures.
This is what I think might have been nurses accomodation. Saying that there were wheelchair ramps and what might have been bed pans so maybe it was just another part of the hospital. Before that it was probably a farm. I got a few more pictures round the back at the end but I just took these quickly since I wanted to try and found the main house.
My attempt at being artistic..which failed because my flash decided to randomly go off ¬_¬
No. Before you ask. It's rain. All and any orbs you think you see are, in fact, rain. Which is annoying because although I'm not 100% convinced orbs are ghosts I think it would be interesting to capture one...
The front of Caldwell House. I took this out of the car because my step-dad was panicking and I was worried he wasn't going to get out of the car XD
Again. No. My breath on the lense. At least I hope it is because this is, I think, a chimney for where the burned bodies. Otherwise it's for laundry but I think it's a bit too big...
From the side. The building on the left is the same one with the chimney.
A conservatory.
Another picture of the chimney.
The window of that building.
Through that window
Round the back.
Pretty turrets.
The mess round the back. And what I assume is what used to be the wall surrounding a vegetable garden. Not sure what the other building is. Possibly a garage but not sure why a hospital would have a garage...
Colin was waaay ahead of me with trying to get inside XD
The conservatory. And the rust which put us off going further up the stairs.
Toilet, I assume. This is from the stairs and I was NOT dropping off those stairs to get inside that pitch black room. It was mainly because I'm afriad of heights, the stairs were VERY wet and slippy, there window was quite far down and I've always been afraid of those sorts of stairs. And I've managed to avoid them until today XD My school has them and you have to use them when there's a fire drill and you're on the top floor. I think I would refuse to go down. Anyway, nobody cares XD
With flash. Not sure if that's rain, actually. I stuck my camera right in...Maybe someone died on the toilet O_o
Conservatory again. I love this picture...There were a lot of tires everywhere so maybe it was used at some point for storage.
The back from the stairs.
A pile of rubbish.
Pretty stairs! This is the other side of the back.
That blue thing is a pheasent feeder. Mind you we didn't see any pheasents...did see some birds though. I think they were quails.
Fire escape at the other side.
Round the side.
Side again. Why does that remind me of the Tower of Terror in Disneyland?
A pen for the pheasants. And that's a reeeally old slide and the top of a caravan...for whatever reason. I'm assuming for the children in the hospital.
A half decent front view. With Colin.
The front again, with a different view of the building at the side. There's a word for it but I keep forgetting it...help..:P
I have no idea how Andy managed that but I congratulate him for managing it XD As rubbish as it is I love this picture :D
What probably used to be a very grand front entrance.
A cabin that sat next opposite the house. Maybe someone tried to do it up before? There are 2 more of these down that road.
And we're back to where we started. See the tires?
A boat at the end of a tunnel of trees. I would have gone further but it was sooo muddy. We'd already tried taking the car down and nearly got stuck :/
The boat without the creepy rain.
So we left Caldwell house and went down the road next to that little cabin since it wasn't the way we came up. I had spotted a big 3-story house on our way to the main house and wasn't 100% sure it was abandoned and we assumed this was the way to it. As we drove up to it we were pretty sure it was abandoned but honestly we weren't risking getting out the car since Colin saw dogs running round behind a fence. My uncle had tried to go up and have a look at Caldwell house a few weeks ago and had told us he heard dogs and that stopped him (which is partially why my step-dad was panicking so much) so I assume he must have just heard them and turned back.
I took this out the car window. Wasn't reeeally willing to get out and Colin didn't want me to.
So we went right past it and up to join the road leading up to Caldwell house. We the went down another road we'd seen (this place was huge!) but it led to an occupied house.
I took this on the way. I thought, at first, this would be where a gate used to be but Colin made the point it might have been for water since there's only one hole and it's fairly low down.
Same again with the house behind it.
And so we left Caldwell House.
This is a terrible picture but I took it whilst we were moving. It's just to prove that building with the dogs existed :P
This is back at the first building. It's a lovely little summer house. I'd seen it earlier and quickly jumped out to get a picture of it and ending up getting a few others too.
The back of the first building.
Bed pans? No idea...
I was trying to get a picture of the swings since I didn't have time to get closer.
