Wooo! Finally getting a chance to comment on this!

Okay, first off, that Dalek icon is actually still one of my favorite things you've ever done. Honestly, everything about it is actually flawless from the composition, to the coloring, to the sharpening. Brilliant stuff.

I definitely love how daring you get toward the end of the year. I think there's some really great stuff in there. Your coloring just gets better and better especially when you go all crazy with COLORS (like in the one you linked in July and also this one which is totally not meh at all, shut up). Your sharpening definitely gets better as well. I see real improvement in that area. So I think you've progressed a lot more than you think! And I am really glad the Style Editor helped you out. I was kind of nervous when I put the activity up because I didn't know how well it was going to go over, and knowing that someone got something out of it is the best.

2013 is going to rock for you, Caryn! ♥

Aww, thank you, Samantha! ♥ That icon felt a little bit ~different for me when I made it, so I'm glad it was a good different. :) I guess I do Good Things when I'm daring, so I should try to dare more often. Or something. XD
Yesss holy crap that was amazing; like, I use betas when I'm writing and that was sort of the same thing for icons? Because generally people give crit on the icons you post at a meme and sometimes they point out things you hadn't noticed, but a lot of the time they see the same imperfections that you can see and they're something that's specific to that icon and not to your body of work.
tl;dr, it was really helpful.

I certainly hope so! ♥

Ok I'm sorry I'm spamming you a lot now, cause I just found so much interesting stuff here while looking for icons to nominate :D
Anyway this was so interesting to read, I love reading peoples thoughts on their icons. I honestly think there are some really gorgeous icons from each month (well except April ofc but well). I do see a lot of progress here (although I still absolutely LOVE that first inspired20in20 post of the year!), and judging by your commentary here + the resolutions, I'm sure your icon posts this year will be even more full of amazing stuff that I just can't wait to see!

Haha, I love how you just decided to go grungy at one point :D You really made it work though. Random style changes ftw!

This was sort of the month of making things I thought were really good at first and then they actually weren't when I looked back at them, but at least I was excited!

This is me with every single batch I make tbh :P

Ahahah, spam away! I've yet to meet an iconner who complained about getting comments. ;D
YOU READ IT HERE HAVE A COOKIE. I found myself just sort of blabbing about things that I figured other people wouldn't care about because it kind of helps me to organize my thoughts and figure out where I've been and where I'm going, haha. Uhm and I also talk a lot, see, there I go again. I'm glad you see progress, though! That insp20 post was fun at the time and I liked that I was doing things that were different, but at the same time looking at the technical side of the post I just cringe a bit, haha. It was probably a good way to start my year because it gave me a lot of things to explore so I'm thankful to it for that, but I don't think I still love it as much as you do. That said, it's good to hear that my icons from back then aren't terrible! \0/ Gives me hope, and such. I hope I don't let you down with my next post! Haha ( ... )

I think, reading this, I can see 2012 being a year for you to hone in on your style (and explore in regards to style) rather than improve exactly. You've got your skills and now you are having fun seeing where you can take them. I do think the last thing you need to feel is underwhelmed, because there are some absolute beauties in this reflection, as well as others you haven't highlighted from you this year! In any case, I've loved watching your development across the year, and am excited to see where 2013 takes you ♥

Aww, thank you, Jess! I think I still have further to go technically (because I will probably never know PS 100%), but I'm certainly not as hopeless as I was at the beginning of last year. :P I think the underwhelmedness is just part of me being a perfectionist in all that I do.
Thanks again! I'm hoping I'll be able to put out something fun for this round of insp20, and then take it from there! ♥
