And suddenly, Kibum is groveling. His breath is coming in short bursts and his rapid heart palpitations are causing him to feel off-balance. He leans on the wall of his apartment, the scattered shards of glass cutting into his knees, leaving red splotches on his carpet.
Kibum looks back up into the eyes of his spouse. Those eyes that were so full of love to the point where it was almost suffocating.
Those eyes that are now filled with malevolence.
The curses spewing from Jonghyun's mouth are muted, drowned out by the sound of blood rushing through Kibum's ears. His face is slightly distorted from the blood running into his eyes.
Kibum hears a slam, but not so much as he feels his face being pushed onto the floor, glass shards coming dangerously close to his eyes. The smell of strong liquor is being forced into his nostrils.
Kibum feels the bang of a door across the hall being shoved open. He also feels Jonghyun climbing on top of him, straddling his waist. Most of all, he feels his breath being cut off. His ability to breathe being slightly dulled by the pillow being pushed roughly over his face.
Kibum finally stops trying. As he lay there, holding his breath with Jonghyun hovering over him, he holds back his tears. Jonghyun climbs off him and staggers toward the apartment door, leaving it a mess in his drunken state of mind.
Finally
Kibum heaves a dry sob.
He rolls onto his side and lets the tears free fall from his eyes. He feels as if he's been stranded on an island, far from this city apartment. Far from the sirens encroaching upon the silence of his living room. Far from the sounds of hurried thuds coming up the stairwell. Most of all, far away from the warm embrace of Choi Minho, the man who lives in the apartment underneath.
He feels himself being rushed into the cold night. The chill hitting him full force through his thin t shirt.
Kibum can finally feel himself slipping away.
He's soaking wet by now. He's being carried bridal style by god knows who- but he wonders.
Who's tears are these?
He chuckles to himself as he realizes.
Oh, it's just the rain.
And suddenly he's gone.
