Sometimes I walk alone at night when everybody else is sleeping...

Kikyou, still shaken up by the hanyou attacking the village, smiled softly at Kagome. She was stunned the hanyou had referred to Kagome as her sister, and felt bad for his cruel remarks towards the girl. "You should get some rest. Feel free to use my hut if you like. I am going to go for a walk, I can't sleep after that ( Read more... )

Something smooth and warm brushed passed his face, and Onigumo attempted to open his eyes. All he could accomplish was cracking them open just enough to gaze through his eyelashes... or rather, where they should have been. The fire had been extensive, and most of his face was etched deeply with scars that he knew would never heal.

From his limited field of vision, he managed to see a figure above him. A kind, thin face looked down at him, obviously concerned. He quickly discarded the thought that she may be a tennyo... thinking of her as something other than human only brought his thoughts back to that youkai that had brought him to this sordid state ( ... )

Nozomi continued to navigate her path through the woods as a strong smell started to catch her nose. It was dark and musty, almost as if there was a fire close by. She was a little curious, but her sensibility stopped her from trying to search the smell out. Kikyou could see the man moving sightly and smiled, please that he was showing signs of life. She spoke softly and calmly, trying to ease the mans' fears. "Worry not, I am here and will do what I can for you."

She went about making sure the the man was comfortable, and continued to fret about moving him until she heard the soft voice. Turning towards it with a smile, Kikyou stood up slowly.

"If you could, please go to the nearest village and let them know I have found an injured man. Have them make a stretcher and then please guide them back here. I will stay with this man amd make sure he survives. Thank you."

She bowed, lowering herself back to her knees and pulling out a cloth. Pouring a little water from her flask onto the cloth she carefully set about trying to squeeze droplets of water down the mans' throat.

Onigumo heard a second voice and attempted to move his head so that he can peer at the newcomer. The result was a flash of pain and the realization that he indeed was unable to make the basic movements that he had taken for granted. He drew in quick, ragged breaths, as he couldn't scream because of the rawness of his throat. His head flooded with frustrated obscenities, he noted the patches of gray that intruded upon his vision as he watched his young caretaker exchange words with the person that he was currently blind to.

An agreement of sorts seemed to be made, but this thought only touched upon Onigumo's mind. He was disoriented and his body made up for his current reticence by screaming at him in pain. He dimly noticed movement on the young woman's part, but his own imminent death clouded his thoughts for the moment.

A drop of moisture suddenly fell upon his lips. Compared to the dryness of his cracked and burned face, this water came as a painfully cold shock, but it soon enough smoothed away into something bearable. I could ( ... )
