I particularly loved the paragraph describing how bereft Ed is without any more leads or research to do.

I've always seen Ed as so very task driven, I mean, his life revolved around a very singular goal. I can only think he'd have trouble adjusting at the best of times, and even more so without his alchemy.

Yes, damn it--you are hitting SO close to the bone of this story...the emotions are so dead-on and tangible I could feel my guts knotting up over Ed's sudden loss of the drive and purpose---his obsession....and Roy's helplessness. My god, this is good...

I was so confused in the canon ending by how easily Ed took to being without his alchemy, I can only think it would have been such a terrible adjustment for him.

In any case, I'm so glad you're enjoying it! The next part is up and there should be more soon <3

His team followed him to every end, and the limbo they were in now that he could not lead them was something palpable.

No, he can't lead any more can he. :( Roy has no future with the military now. The military won't keep a blind soldier in its ranks no matter how impressive his alchemy was or is, too much of a liability. He's just like Ed. With no alchemy, the military has no more use for Ed either. so sad. Neither of them have the goals that once drove them. One can only wonder what will become of them now. :(
