Hello!
I am just writing about inuktitut for my university. I wonder wether inuktitut is developing as a language - I mean wether it suits to different contemporary notions and realities. Does it enlarge its vocabulary and if so how? Such words as plane, car, computer, spam etc.

Yes, words have been developed in Inuktitut for things that are new in society. Unfortunately I don't have any concrete sources or examples of how it has been done. For more information, you might try CBC North, Nunavut news/north (at nnsl.com), or contacting Nunavut's Literacy Council (if they have one) or Department of Education.

Inuktitut and evolving language? nyias August 13 2008, 05:59:22 UTC
Someone to track down, and an expert on the topic of the Inuktitut language, is Mick Mallon he has lived and worked in the arctic for many many years, he taught people who came to work in the arctic the language. He translates documents to and form the language for the Canadian Government. He is embedded in the culture and lives there during the winter. He is very knowledgable in regard to the life of the language. He is a semi retired free lance writer.
Shona

I thing he can be tracked by google.
