did you mean to say more? jillyapple1 October 10 2016, 00:08:11 UTC
I don't know if some of what you typed was erased when you posted, but I am only seeing a sentence fragment, "by alandrem at". I know on fan fiction dot net, hyperlinks get deleted, but I wouldn't think that happens on lj.

Hi, ex-alandrem here,

Thanks for recommending my fic even though I didn't finish it. It's nice to know people still read it.

On that subject, I'm trying to re-write it, and perhaps modernize it. I really had at least ten more chapters worth of notes that I never got around to writing, and I always knew where I wanted it to end. I actually have the first 7 chapters mostly finished.

As someone who recently-meaning 2016-read it, do you think it'll be worth trying to rewrite it? The story is now very AU, since I never got to see past episode 90, and the 3 fist movies.

Yes and no. I wouldn't worry about it being AU, as long as it is internally consistent. I think it would be better to continue the story as-is, and then go back and fix up any plot holes or inconsistencies that bother you. I've seen it before: people get bogged down in re-writes, lose steam, and never finish, because they feel like they've lost ground on the story and can't get back to where they were, much less advance. Remember, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Although I'd recommend a beta, since I caught some grammar/spelling mistakes. I'd be happy to help in that capacity. My email is jillyapple1@aol.com. You can also find me at AO3 as Daughter_of_Jove.

Back to the AU thing, what I meant by wanting fics mostly canon-compliant was that I didn't want a fusion, or a modern high school AU where everyone was born in the modern era. I don't really consider your fic AU because it maintains the setting of the anime and the flavor of the characters, if that makes sense.

Sincerely,
Jillian
