Re: your poll, the audio book (via Audible) of Scalzi's Fuzzy Nation includes Piper's Little Fuzzy with it, but not Fuzzy Sapiens. Due to the ordering of them, I read Scalzi's version first, then Piper's, and never Piper's sequel.

I like the way you refer to Fuzzy Nation as fanfic. Have you read Neil Gaiman's short story "A Study in Emerald"? It's a Sherlock Holmes / Lovecraft crossover fanfic that won a Hugo.

No, haven't read that one. But I did read Nick Mamatas's Jack Kerouac/Lovecraft crossover fanfic.

There's a third Piper Fuzzy book; Fuzzies and Other People. It was apparently a manuscript in a box at the time of Piper's suicide - I'm not sure if it's widely available (I happen to have a copy sitting behind me right now that I picked up in a used book store on Prince Edward Island on my honeymoon, on a whim).
