One-line summary: Charles Dickens's semi-autobiographical Bildungsroman about the eponymous orphan and his rise from a hard-knocks childhood to life as a novelist.
i've only read the abridged version of DAVID COPPERFIELD and i loved it. But,now i think i should read unabridged version too.i found out that i missed a lot of incidents in the real book.
David Copperfield - the re-appearance of Miss Murdstone.ext_4531696February 20 2018, 12:43:45 UTC
Actually you missed one - the Hallmark adaption - a miniseries, which did include Miss Murdstone as Dora's companion, along with her betraying the lovers. They also added a penultimate, new scene, where David meets the Murdstones while they are "grooming" a new potential young bride, and exposes them for the bullies and scoundrels they are. That is the motivation for his writing his memoirs, so that no other woman will be snared by them. (in the book, Traddles tells David that Murdstone has married another young wife and reduced her to complete subjection and passivity). While This is a considerable remove from the book, I found it quite satisfying that the Murdstones got their comeuppance and that David resolved his feelings of frustration and anger against them in action.
