Looking forward to your thoughts about Facebook. There's so much backlash, isn't there? I have a friend who swore off of it because she invariably hates the "internet version" of themselves that people present and she realized it was bleeding into her perception of their "real life" version. I don't quite agree with her on this, but it's something to think about...

And nooooo, leaving LJ?

Haha, yeah, I've noticed that there's been a lot of backlash about that...I think for me though it's not that I have different versions of myself but that it simply isn't productive. The conversation online is always one-sided. I read things, I watch things, but there's never any real chance for interaction. When I share things on FB, what real interaction is there? Even when I talk to people on FB, I seldom find substance; it's almost impossible to disengage from light banter, the type of conversation you'd go through for the first couple meetings with a new person, and there's always the disbility of constantly being distracted by other internet entertainment. When I actually ever feel anything about talking online, it's through chat anyway, and it's so much better to talk in person rather than in text, so why bother with the whole affair? I'm curious to know your viewpoint though, since you probably have had different experiences with the internet. Let me know what you think ( ... )
