Hm. I like the idea of a Valentines Day. [she laughs to herself] But I'm sure you're all tired of everyone going on and on about it- so tell me, Discedo: what other kinds of holidays do you celebrate? What's the story behind them?

I think its romantic to have a holiday to show your affection.

Hey Sally, have you seen Sonic around? My Sonic I mean?

I couldn't agree more.

... Are you planning something?

I think his communicator is acting strange...

Yep! I want to make something special for Sonic.

We call it "Vaeandyk" and on this day we burn people at the stake then take their heads and use their skulls for wine.

In my homeland, the second day of this month would have been the observation of Candlemas, the Purification of the Blessed Virgin, and in a more traditional way, Gŵyl Fair.

You weren't able to celebrate this year?

There really are not enough people here to observe them. Moreover, a friend's birthday was the fourth day of this month, and we celebrated that in lieu of the others.

Oh? I'm sorry to hear that! It's a good thing you had other things to celebrate.

Oh? That may explain why some people have mentioned White Day and some haven't. What about your country?

White Day? No, we don't celebrate that in my country~ but it does sound nice!

So just Valentines for your 'country'? Or something completely different?

...the Watanagashi. Or Cotton-Drifting Festival. My village takes worn-out blankets or padded kimonos, thank them, hold a memorial service for them by sending their cotton down the stream.

A memorial service?

princessofmoe February 11 2009, 09:51:55 UTC
Yes, mii~. We extract the cotton by ripping apart the blankets and kimonos. You know, the human body is very dirty with sins, so the cotton is meant to absorb them. This ceremony is also to honor our village God.

Interesting! And an interesting reason for a memorial service, if you don't mind me saying. What day of the year is this?
