for a reason

[My younger daughter is a gifted writer, but she was speech-delayed as a little girl and even now tends to put her own inimitable spin on idiomatic expressions.  We've all used the phrase "for some reason": I feel tired all of a sudden for some reason; the light wasn't working for some reason.  Generally of course it means "for no discernible ( Read more... )

Yes. The experts (when they're not being religious health nuts) do admit that some exercise is loads better than being a couch potato.

You got more exercise than I did, because you did it every day. Me, I exercise also for a reason, and biking is also for a reason. I hardly get out otherwise. Also for a reason. For some reason (so to speak), my joints protest to me when I go a mile or two to the Walgreens or the library or the downtown Kroger and back. The dentist isn't nearly so far.

Religion is excellent mood material. So also is using your brain to do the algebra to show the little tuna cans are less expensive this week than the big tuna cans. (They switch prices on these regularly.) Also is your determination of the personal validity of church interpretation of the bible.

Daily prayer, meditation, and contemplation help lift spirits and concentrate on positive things. Whenever we talk about spirituality in DBSA Louisville, I always say, "Whatever you do--prayer, chanting, singing, meditation, devotional, or whatever--do it daily." It really helps balance a person, and it reminds us that we are children of God, and God loves us simply because God is love.

Thanks for all your comments! The mini-dessert topic is definitely one I'm going to deal with when I do my diet post.

I'm fortunate to be right now with a man who not only has had years of observing the fasts, but who is also a good cook. That, I believe, will help us in our fasting.

Hey, and the flatbread that I always serve with the black bean burgers is another good fasting recipe. (And don't forget black bean and pumpkin soup!)

One more comment: I am glad that I have you as my best friend, and I'm glad to have your family as well. Normal is alright, and I do appreciate that you and your family have a normal, Orthodox life.

Then again, you can't be completely normal: you were in Marching Band like I was! Crazy people, them! :D
