Remember how I was saying the other night how you always have such good ideas? Yeah.
Actually, Jim O'Rourke used to talk about wanting to do this, too: a whole album of songs that he thought weren't bad exactly but had maybe been marred by bad production or whatever. The two I remember him talking about were Bruce Hornsby's "The Way It Is" and Crash Test Dummies' "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm." This was back in 1999 or so, so I guess he just never got around to it.
But the whole irony thing does make it difficult, you're right.
