Oh I loved this! Last night's Big School was the best this season, I loved how they let Trevor and Sarah have poignant moments about becoming a parent, and at the end, how even a hopeless student can be improved if you believe in him--lovely! But yes, the response to "I want a baby" should be EXACTLY how Alec responds here (that's how you know you are with the right man!) and NOT how Keith reacted--it really shows how canon!Sarah is settling for Keith (or she will have to in the end) and it's really kinda sad.
I love this episode too. It's one of the best so far although the parents' evening scene was a little hard to watch. Sarah is still quite dizty and delusional, and I can't wait for her to write her as the smart, independent and brilliant woman that she is. Catherine is such a talented actress and they really do need to start tapping into it. Instead of just using her comedic skills (which are awesome) but she has such expressive eyes (eg: Donna and Beatrice), and they disregard that altogether.
Oh, that scene with Keith just made me so sure that he will never be the right man for her. When that scene happened, I was wishing that they'd bring in David for a cameo as Sarah's new love interest. I'm sure there is no way they can write him worse of a match for Sarah than they have already done with Keith. David's character doesn't even have to show up all the time. I just need to know that Sarah has a sexy Scotsman in her life who is perfect for her. She doesn't need to be settling for a Chemistry teacher who is so not right for her.
For me the scene with Keith and Trevor ogling her breasts was even harder to watch. That was just…hmm. Again, like you say, if Catherine had creative control and that scene was there then I'd fine with it, but knowing it was written by one of the men staring at her chest is just…squirmy.
She is SUCH a talented writer. And such an utterly amazing dramatic actress, and when you see glimpses of that it's frustrating because Big School could be so much more, it could have heart instead of everything being a cheap schoolyard prank. David Walliams is a good writer for teen boy comedy, but nothing more than that it seems.
I almost had to skip that scene. As far as I know, she doesn't seem to have quite a lot of creative control with the writing. I mean, I'm sure she knows she is very blessed in the chest area but to write that into a show and have people stare at it...it's just uncomfortable. I feel uncomfortable for her. You can have an amazing comedy without all the inappropriate staring at someone's private bits
