From Nonny - 'I forgot to do my homework so I'm just going to copy off of you and hope that you didn't get the answers wrong' au for sophiexjames
“Sophie, have you seen my…”
James pauses in the middle of the sentence and the middle of the room when he finds her looking just about as guilty as a child having caught red-handed with her hands in the cookie jar.
“What are you doing with my file, sweetheart? Were you copying my work?” He bites back a smile and tries to look stern but it’s so hard to be serious when she looks so cute, he thinks.
“You’re better at that than I am,” she explains quickly, her face pink with embarrassment. She will never know how he always manages to make her blush like a schoolgirl even under the most mundane of circumstances. “Are you mad?” She pouts a little, nuzzling him just the way he likes it. “Please don’t be mad.”
He squeezes her hips gently, “no, I’m not mad. If you’re having problems, you could have told me. I would have tutored you.”
“I don’t want you to think I’m using you for your language prowess,” she shrugs, “clearly, I’m using you for sex. But you’re so good at English and I’m like a drooling troll beside you.”
“It’s the only thing I’m good at.” He leaves a kiss on her forehead. “You could never be a troll, you’re too beautiful.”
“I don’t even like this class,” she confesses, “I only took it because of you. I still can’t believe I asked you out.”
“I’m glad you did.” James smiles at the memory. “I was too shy to even look at you in the eye. I thought I died and gone to heaven when you asked me out. Apparently, I did go to heaven because I’m living with an angel.”
Sophie blushes and buries her face in his chest, sighing happily.
“Come on,” he coaxes her back to her seat and settles down beside her. “Let’s see what we’re working with…”
“You’re going to recognise a lot of the answers,” she warns. “I copied a lot of things from you but changed some things so it doesn’t look identical.”
“It’s good,” he murmurs, looking up from her assignment. “You added in a lot of your own thoughts and opinions, and you made it your own. I don’t think you even needed my help.” Then he lets out a huge dramatic sigh that has her baffled. “How are you so good at everything? It’s not fair.”
“Shut up,” she tells him, shoving him playfully. “I’m just happy I finished it. I can’t wait to graduate.”
James nods in agreement, “once we graduate, we can work on something else.”
“Like?”
“Making you Mrs Arber.”
Sophie’s cheeks flush and she tucks her bottom lip between her teeth. “You know that means I have the right to copy all of your work forever.”
“I can’t wait, Soph.”
