It's kind of sad that a lot of you guys are moving to DW for good. I mean I know you guys are all cross-posting to LJ and all but it feels lonelier to be on LJ these days
( Read more... )
You can configure personal journals on DW for crossposting to LJ. You'd post on DW, and there's a tickybox underneath the content you can tick to toggle crossposting to LJ, if that makes sense. :)
The option isn't available for communities, unfortunately, but you can do imports from LJ every so often. (Personally, I just do a lot of copying-and-pasting.)

Yes, honey.. but I don't know if it's better or not for that. I think it's the same or maybe even better since it's newer than LJ.. a lot of people from LJ have moved to DW in the past few years and are more active over there. You should open one just as mirror site - like how most of them do, anyway! :)
P.S. While I have you here, I'm sorry for being slow with the site. It's been quite hectic with the kids (birthdays, etc.) I'll email you as soon as I can, sweetie.
Well, I for one am not moving for good. I love lj too much for that. But at the same time, I think it's good to have other options with all the changes they are implementing. And I don't think I will be happy with that friends page.
I love LJ A LOT! I will always love this place and will never leave it. It's been a huge part of my online life since the beginning, so yeah. It's always going to be home for me. And honestly, I don't really care about how the way friends page look, as long as I get to read you all, that's all good! <3
Hi again Thia, Just coming back onto LJ from busy time away, it does seem to have changed. I remember the good old Buffy fandom days, and now searching around, many of the fandoms have journals and communities that haven't been updated for years. It's to be expected that trends and popular fandoms come and go, but there is definitely less going on LJ in that area than there used to be.
Like you too, I love design, layout, icons, graphics as well. There's not so much creativity in that area either.
I think it's due to LJ becoming a public company and expanding. They have lost the lovely geeky group of friends together feel. And it's no longer in their interests to preserve it.
Dreamwidth were set up to keep that feel, I believe, but have had difficulty picking up the following. I started over there , then deleted my account as I hadn't the time, but now am back experimenting on ardisia_test.
If I were you, I'd set up a free account there and crosspost everything. See how it goes.
Hi sweetie! :) Yes, people have moved on to other things.. I guess the Buffy fandom is quiet because the show's been over years ago. Even that we have the comics, it's different due to not everyone can access them or simply it's just not their 'media' to collect. If you know what I mean

Well - times move on, and I love all the new ipads etc (not that I have one yet). It's amazing looking back how things have grown. LJ is great for fic writers. So glad there are so many of you still about here.
Hmm...I don't have DW at all myself; one blog is more than enough and lj is 'home', more or less!;)Dear friends who have come to mean a lot to me I came to know over here!:)
Same with me, sweetie. I'll never leave this place. I've met so many amazing friends over the many years I've been here. Even if I'm not always around, I'll always come back! *HUGS*
*hug back*Aye, same here; I did make a Tumblr account a few weeks ago...I never seem to log in, lol, though I log in here as soon as I turn on my pc!;)
