[The video turns on to Seifer. He's a little pale, but he won't say anything if no one else says anything. And he'd appreciate you not saying anything, so. All in all he looks like he has his shit a little more together; at least he looks functional, a little less angry. There's a sort of bitterness he didn't use to have, but hey he's not shooting

[He hardly ever goes to the Lights, but he knows if he tried to start anything there Shinji would toss him out. And he's trusting Giovanni knows that too.]

He sits across from Seifer and laces his hands together on the table, waiting patiently.]

[...] You ever try'n manage my affairs for me again I'll do more than just set you on fire.
[Just saying. He really didn't appreciate Giovanni's post.]
You know Credo?

[Meaning: I'm not listening to you.]
I know of him.

Good. Then get to know him. Soon as I've got him up to standards he's taking over the Watch.

He's everything you want ain't he. Honorable. A knight. He's not an idiot. He won't lie to you and he won't cheat you. Hard worker.
[You know, better than Seifer.]
[...] He's not as good at intelligence as me. Gonna work on it with him, but...
[He shrugs. He can only do so much. If Credo's going to take over the Watch he's going to need Giovanni's help.]
Or did you decide protecting the innocent isn't for you while I was gone.

Being told to work with a man I hardly know--your word on him not withstanding--is not how I operate.

This isn't a transfer of your services, it's a transfer of your pawn. I know you've been using me Giovanni. I didn't really care before; if I do work for you, what's it matter if it helps me in the end.
You don't want to lead the Watch and neither does anyone else. It's something you all need around here though. Maybe casualties can't be cut out entirely, but with the Watch they can be cut down drastically. The Watch is a tool of Discedo, much as you might not like it you live here, it's your tool just like everyone else's.
I'd have thought you'd prefer someone like Credo over me.

A man like Credo is great when it comes to the city guard. He makes a fine watchman, maybe makes it to captain of a small unit perhaps, he serves loyally and faithfully and with full conviction that he is righteous. But nothing more.
He is never a leader and if he is he does a poor job of it. He was made to follow orders, relay them down to his subordinates, not make them up himself and issue them. He is not ambitious enough, sly enough, or confident enough.
In the end, he is nothing but a tool as you said yourself. Useful, until it breaks. And everything eventually breaks.

[Cause that's what it sounds like. Not that Giovanni's thoughts don't mirror his own. He knows Credo's too righteous and set in military law to be the greatest leader. He just... doesn't have any other options. Sephiroth is not an option.]

Not quite. There is a fine line... [He takes a heavy breath and turns his head to look out at the room.] This is not home. Circumstances change.
If there is no other choice then I will make do. [He looks back at Seifer.] But it will be my choice to be a part of the Watch or not. Not yours.
