Getting there...

May 27, 2012 17:51

We've been having some glorious weather here recently.  Although it is a bit too warm for my liking, it is nice to be able to enjoy it and not be panicking about whether there's enough. After the driest April on record last year we've now had the wettest for a hundred years and it shows. The grass is lush and the animals all look exceptionally well ( Read more... )

How thrilling! And I'm sure compiling an accurate index is quite a chore.

Let us know when the Amazon listing is complete!

Sounding great but I am not pre-ordering on Amazon because I hope that I have already preordered a signed copy from the hand of the Author! You have me reaching for the dictionary to check the usage of principle and principal. My room is booked for the 11th. Life should ease up after next weekend so if there is anything that you need help with let me know. Setting up or packing away a speciality.

You most certainly do have one reserved for you! Oh lord, I've had to pull out my English usage too. I've run this one past my mum who is an ex English teacher but she is 86 now! I think it should be principal! Quick edit needed!

And thanks for the offer of help, I'll definitely take you up on that one.

I thought it might be principal in that context but not sure enough to tell you properly. It is one that always trips me up. Now the 'your' that should have been you'll, or even more correctly 'you will' on the packaging for pairs of gardening gloves stocked at a well known supermarket beginning with s stood out a mile! But I am a bit of a nerd that way. Hand written signs in multi-lingual London can make me smile but simple mistakes on hundreds of a product makes me cringe and grind my teeth. BTW I have just finished watching 'the Road' with our friend Viggo on BBC2. Never mind that I have it on DVD. I am both enjoying the sun and hating the heat. There is no pleasing some people is there?

It trips me up too [obviously!] and I'm soooooo very glad you raised it as I'd have been cringing about it for a long time if an error like that had slipped through. It's double checking all these sorts of things that's taking the time at the moment.

Ihope you enjoyed The Road. I'm only braved it the once.

And I'm with you on the heat and the sun!

Thank you!

I'm melting too! It actually seems worse now than during the day and no end in sight.

It seems worse here too. The BBC forecast for my area promises much cooler on Tuesday!

It all looks fascinating - I can see it being very hard work, though.

Thank you! The trouble with Tolkien of course is there are so many names. I did one page yesterday where there were 31 entries for the index!
