Really good first job! Just one small nitpick: Castle's bedroom is off of his office on the first floor, and not upstairs with Martha and Alexis.

I LOLed at Castle's lying to Esposito. Poor Espo . . . off on a wild goose chase. ;) Castle could have lied and said Beckett just called and was bringing coffee over . . .

I loved her question about Castle and Alexis and his answer. That was beautiful and my favorite part of the story.

I didn't expect to be inspired by a fic but this part really spoke to me and was really in Castle's voice:

“I’d want her to be happy,” he said softly. “I’d want her to remember the good times we had, and talk about me to her friends and her kids, and I’d want her to live a good, long life. And I think that, more than anything, your mother wants that for you too.”

I think I needed to read that, because of a personal experience similar to Beckett's. So thank you very much for writing it.
