They closed Ioanonline.com :( Oh this is verra sad!!

Ioan, who has funded the site for the last two years of it's nine-year run, has decided not to support this site anymore due to comments posted about his fiancee in the forums.(O_o

i saw him on tv here in aust last night, and was going to go check if some wonderful person had put it online yet, but the site is gone :( sad that someone was so nasty about alice that he pulled out of the site!!

That's really too bad. Am I a horrible person to think that it's kind of unfair for the rest of us to get punished for one miscreant? Just thinking out loud, forgive me!

oh i think alice woulda taken a bit of a hammering in that place from time to time, it is a real shame that it happened, and i do agree with you that the rest of us are being punished :(

That's sad :( I enjoyed that site alot.

I don't know what was said in the forums, but I'm sorry that some people got nasty about Alice. It gets on my nerves when fans do that, as if they know the person they're a fan of and all the people in that persons life. Like they have a valid reason to judge them so much.
We've all seen it, though. Digs at the girlfriend for being beautiful, or uncalled for remarks about how she dresses, or something she said, etc.
It's sad because it ruins it for those people who aren't like that and don't feel the desire to speak ill of their favourite celebrity's S/O.
In saying that, I think most people have probably said something narky before, myself included. It's just sad when it gets to this point.

i think alice can be picked on for her fashion, i think any famous person can be, it's what we see, it's often all we see about them, but to make personal attacks on someone, when you know nothing about them, that's not on.

i do honestly think we as the public have the right to pick on famous people's fashion sense, or lack thereof, but hating someone for dating yr idol, that's sad.

Well, I was there for the last few months of IOL and based on my observations, it took one huge misunderstanding (a board member was wrongly accused of bashing Alice E. not at IOL but on some other site, Wikipedia included, I think) and some comments relating to Alice E. on the board to take the site down. It never got nasty on that board, in my opinion. But as I don't know the people involved (least of all AE and Ioan), I won't speculate any further. I just sort of feel that IOL was made a bit of a scapegoat. But still, I do understand Ioan's reaction.

It really was a shame, because the site was excellent. But I suppose that's how it is with celebrities and their fans, sometimes misunderstandings are what guide the actions.

it's good to know that you ladies where behaved in there, it did suprise me that something like that supposedly happened, becuase i always remember it being well run and a quality site.

it was a great site, one that really rolled off the tongue, and if you had someone to introduce to the delights of ioan, you just had to send them there.

I think that after the mod incident, people on the boards were pretty angry with AE. Accusations that turn out to be untrue are never exactly good, after all, and ok, after that, the angry people said some things they maybe shouldn't have
