Oooo. There's a piece covered with jewel beetle casings (now, of course, I can't find the image, but it's either a face or a skull or a mask and I don't remember which) that I absolutely love.

Thought process:

Vulcans are reserved.

Vulcans have winged brows.

Winged things are associated with exuberance.

How did a fictitious species associated with reserve, dignity and detachment from emotion end up with brows associated with such expressive sweeps?

What other ways can a mask be a mask, dignified and reserved, and have an unexpected gasp of color or emotion, a break point that suggests a dichotomy, or something hidden?
