Twitter Question

Confused. What does it mean when something is preceded by the # sign? I follow @nprpolitics on Twitter, and they keep talking about #inaug09 that has something to do with the inauguration. Their "special coverage of #inaug09" begins at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday; "we've received 10,000 tweets so far for #inaug09" etc. What is this?

I think it's like a tag, so you can find people twittering about the same subject.

Oh, so does that mean that there is a place where I enter those characters, and it brings me to a screen that aggregates all the tweets using those characters? How do I get to that display?

I think you can do it at hashtags.org .

Hi! This is completely off topic, but I noticed that you haven't posted in about 3 months and I was wondering if everything is OK with you. I really miss you on LJ, and I know I'm not the only one. I hope all is fine.

Hugs,
Catrine
