Your favourite animal?
Tell me the first thing that pops into your head:
What is your favorite animal?
Why?
What is your second most favorite animal?
Why?
My brother asked me this out of the blue a while back, and it has affected me.
He asked me what my favorite animal was?
After hesitating and being scolded for doing so, because you're not supposed to, I picked the Seal as my favorite.
Why? He asked.
"Well, they are loaf-shaped, swim well, and usually they're just laying around, eating fish, just looking at stuff and occasionally go 'Erp!'."
"OK, so what's your second favorite animal?"
I couldn't really be specific so I said "Wolf/Dog, canines in general."
"Why?"
"Well, they are loyal, loving and protective to their pack, can protect against bad people, strong, with both a sense of community and individualism, and especially with wolves, they run around in the forest a lot and there are so called 'lone wolves'."
He then explained to me that the second favorite tells you how you are, and the first favorite tells you how you would like to be, for the reasons you gave.
So, while I admire the seal and would like to be like one, all zen-like and shit, it seems I'm more of a canine personality, apparently.
The descriptions I gave fits perfectly on me.
This has stirred my mind a bit lately, regarding my fursona.
Is a seal really the best avatar for me?
A canine is very mainstream, like the 'default' furry you'd choose if you couldn't come up with something better (no offense, wolves...), and I'm a bit of my own, which is why seals seemed like a good idea.
Not many around...
Another thing to add is that I'm protective, like a sheepdog.
Even though I'm definitely not a sheep and I'm standing outside of sheep society, I feel a very deep duty in protecting the sheep from the wolves (bad people) that would like to hurt them (this is all just metaphors, I don't consider wolf furries bad in any way), and thought I like to run around in the forest like a wolf, maybe a sheepdog is what matches my personality the best?
The types I think of first are the German shepherd and the Tibetan Mastiff, but all in all I think the GS would win.
So, should I change, augment, or double-play a German shepherd dog instead of/with a seal?
