I loved the animated X-Men so much, I need to watch it again. And I ship Scott/Emma, too. I think this is Joss' fault. (Have you ever read Planet Hulk? My favourite comic story set on another world so far.)

Spike: I thought the stark change in his human self was amusing, and interesting things could be done with it, but I'm STILL disappointed about Dru siring him. :p And do not get me started on Lies My Parents Told Me, dear god.

I liked him in Angel, too, once they figured out what to do with him beyond "insert one-liner here".

I have read Planet Hulk (but only because it was the lead-in to World War Hulk, which I wanted to read because OMG Doctor Strange was going to be in, which he was, for like an issue and a half before he got sidelined grr); it was great fun (and the background details of the world were very fun) but I ultimately find Hulk very hard to care about. I really like the basic idea of literalising the idea of a bad temper, but it turns out that I'm not that fussed about what happens next.

Anyway, questions!

1. You seem to be one of those people who's drawn to minor characters; is this in fact a fair thing to say, and if so what do you think are the reasons for it?

Hah, that's why I read it too, actually - after reading all of Civil War I was in the mood for a bit of HULK SMASH. I do agree that it's all a bit less fascinating than you'd think, though. (You'd think Doctor Strange would learn NOT to call on Ancient Dark Power...)
