My immediate thought was that it was obvs way in the future so it is quite easy to work in. SHE LOOKED FUCKING AWESOME, THOUGH. I WAS SO PLEASED TO SEE HER WHEN I REALLY THOUGHT WE WOULDN'T.
I like the King Arthur parallel, hadn't thought of that. I'm not sure subtext has always hinted at Rassilon being evil, though there are certainly some things in there, particularly during Seven's era.
I dunno, the rumours around Claire Bloom's character were that she was going to be the Doctor's mother and I think that's still a possibility.
Clearly my batshit Romanafannishness coming through, then, but the bit about being "lost a long time ago" or whatever immediately made me think of E-Space.
Confidential made a point of showing Moffat at the filming of Smith's scene, and Euros talking about all the meetings he had about it, so I think Davies didn't write anything after the regeneration.
Oh, and it was clearly Romana, giving the Doctor a 'remember that time when you had to tell me to stand aside so you could shoot something behind me?' look.
The Martha/Mickey thing made me facepalm a bit, though I agree that Freema's hair was gorgeous. Not that she isn't gorgeous normally, of course, but the braids really suited her.
I also agree that the raging about dying felt a bit like RTD/Tennant projecting feelings about leaving, though I give Tennant credit for getting Euros Lyn to back off on an overemotional take of Ten's final line, because Tennant felt it was out of character. If only Tennant had said the same things to Rusty. Sigh.
Overall, I liked this episode better than the last one ... but that's not saying much.
No, Eleven, having hair longer than a crewcut does not in fact make you a girl.
Actually, this line didn't bother me at all, possibly because both Tennant and Smith have far longer hair than I do ;)

Ah, I didn't watch the Confidential; that's quite interesting.

For an RTD two parter it's a miracle!

Thinking about it, it wasn't so much the line itself as the way he played the reaction to the idea that he might be a girl. I don't want to become one of those people who tries to predict Moff Tiem's issues ahead of time but it doesn't fill me with joy.

But even casual fans I was watching with were all "but isn't she engaged to that doctor bloke?". Ha.

I clearly need to go and get more icons.

Thank you! I was beginning to feel like the only one who noticed that.
