In the cut you will find photos of what I do at the field school. It's lots of fun.
This is the 5 x 10 foot Excavation Unit that we are digging in. Actually this is two units combined, numbers 2 and 6. 2 is over 2 feet deep, 6 is just over 1 foot deep. 2 is the one towards the top of the photo, which is facing South.
This is the eastern wall in EU2. I can see the differences in the dirt layers, can you?
Yay for Fresh Step as the buckets allow us to function properly. We carry lots of dirt into our sifter things with them as well as our gear to and from Garman's car.
Yay more kitty litter... we're so classy.
Heads...
...and tails. I dated this coin online today to 1839. It is a Large Cent of the Newcomb 4 variety. We found it in the Northeast corner of EU 2 meaning that everything under it is pre1839 while stuff found above it is post 1839. Yay for finding datable artifacts!! You have no idea how this made my day.
So yeah, that's it in a nutshell. I think I will actually include a picture of the sifter at some point in the near future...or maybe action shots! Oh, I know, one of how dirty my knees get after digging. :-D
In other news, the African Violet I got two days ago fell out of the window. It is now half of the plant it was. I almost cried, it was so pretty, and still is on the non-broken side, and will be totally again. I am attempting numerous things to get it to regrow quickly.
