Ha...I was going to post this up on DA but...I'm not sure when I got sick of the responses, but I did. Ditching the entry seemed like a pain too so it's going to go here. Maybe I'll just dump most of the more severe dissery here. That way I can even talk about the blinking idiots on DA without worrying about the mods coming to banhammer me XD
It never ceases to amaze me how much of an attention whore the all too famous J.K. Rowlings happens to be. I mean, not ONLY does she decide to incorporate as MANY useless deaths as possible in her now super over-rated yet popular series Harry Potter and allude to the WWII Concentration camps + Hitler in the most painstakingly crappy ways possible (Seriously, it was so boring I can't even remember what happened anymore, and while I was always awful at memorising facts for exams, I'm actually very GOOD at remembering plotlines down to the finest detail) she has decided in her final stop on the 'J.K. Rowling Open Book Tour' (held at Carnegie Hall in New York City) to tell the world that in fact Dumbledore is Homosexual.
For anyone who missed the news- yes, Dumbledore is a confirmed homosexual by the author herself. He is Gay. He likes Humping/Getting humped by men.
If the point hasn't sunken in yet I feel very worried for you.
In Carnegie Hall, this news was received with much applause, and on the internet? Oh we have people hailing JKR as the awesome person who's making the world better, one interview at a time, hailing her for creating wonderful role models in view of a better, gay-friendly future.
Now before everyone starts to think this is about the gay, no, it's not about the gay. I have nothing against the gay. I knew Dumbledore was gay from the moment Dumbledore set his pedophillic eyes on the stupid creature known as Harry. Yes, I don't only think that Dumbledore is a homosexual, I was always very convinced that he has a fetish for going-to-be-powerful glasses boys who are also popular, aka James and Harry. Seriously, his eyes LIGHTS UP at the mention of any of them. I bet you he once had the hots for Tom Riddle too. Young and delicious, totally Dumbledore's taste.
But when I read the article about the 'world changing' event that occured in happy NYC, I couldn't even begin to understand why anyone, especially anyone who is actually gay, would find anything to scream "HURRAH!" about.
JKR may have confirmed that Dumbledore is not a possible gay, rather an IS gay, but never once is this even remotely spoken about within the HP series asides from the one article by Rita Skeeters (a lying sensationist news reporter), who questions the reasons for why Dumbledore was showing any special interests to Harry Potter, implying that he may have some "Unhealthy, even sinister" ideas. Harry clearly doesn't believe a word of this, and even if the book is purely fictional and set in a fantasy scenario, the main world which all these events occur upon is in the world we know best, the world we live in, during the 21st century. Somehow the wizarding world is not only totally backwards in technological understanding (DESPITE living amongst "Muggles") their supposed racial open-mindedness has not reached out to sexuality (Nope Voldie-poo, you're not the only one screwed up here).
And yet here we are, JKR suddenly goes pro-gay after marrying off every speakable character of the series, starting off with the gayest of the bunch, Remus Lupin and the butch Tonks, down to insinuating romance between the next generation children of the big, happy, Voldemort-free family. What more, Dumbledore's interest was surprisingly NOT in Harry Potter, who was possibly the ONLY blinking character this introverted twinkly eyed old man ever properly interacted with throughout the entire blinking series to what can be called a close relationship. Instead, Dumbledore is gay for hawt, evil Grindelwald.
Wow, now that really IS a shocker.
Dumbledore/Grindelwald is possibly JKR's most PLATONIC relationship, if compared to Draco RIDING ON HARRY'S BROOM SCREAMING, or Snape and Sirius WHIPPING THEIR WANDS OUT AS THEY STRODE ACROSS THE ROOM, and let us not forget the initial LOVING HUG Sirius and Remus shared upon their reunion in book 3. Yet, somehow in JKR logic, two brilliant once-upon-a-time-hawt men with similar interests in Hitler-esque world domination, broken apart by the death of Dumbledore's sister only to reunite in an EPIC battle in wizarding history is gay.
...
What?
!?!??!?!?!
Hell Dudley in all his tea distributing "You're not a waste of space" is more gay than the relationship held between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. So how the hell did this even come along after JKR's 'brilliant' display of homophobia in Book 7?!?
Whatmore I couldn't even begin to understand how anyone could look up to a century+ year old closet (Better article here on TIMES:
[ link ]), nor could I see how anyone would hail love to a woman who clearly worries more about her profitting sales (DESPITE being blinking richer than the Queen) than to support open-mindedness in sexuality.
"If I'd known it would make you so happy, I would have announced it years ago!" - JK. Rowlings, 'CLEARLY' the supporter of open-minded ideas, not popular ones
Besides, who cares if Dumbledore is gay? He's old, and dead. It was such a safe card to play.
Again, I'm not pissed that Dumbledore is gay. I will also OPENLY admit now (since it was a severe misconception last time round) that I use to like the first 4 books (seriously, why the hell do you think I suffered all the way to the end!?) and I still like Luna Lovegood (Ohhhh she is sooooooo cute. The actress chosen for her was huggably adorable and just simply PERFECT too, and throughout last book I went giddy every time she appeared, esp. in the beginning in the sunflower dress. I hated Harry with every inkling in my body for not wanting to save her too. Harry, why didn't you properly die, WHY!?) so I'm really not...intentionally TRYING to get every bit of dirt I can find to diss JKR (whom I do hate) and HP (which I now hate). I'm also not saying that HP needed more gay- though it would have been nice if the last book wasn't so blatantly homophobic. BUT SERIOUSLY, ISN'T THIS 'NEW' NEWS KIND OF MEANINGLESS!? I mean the only people who should even be rejoicing are the "Grindledore" fans who were proven right o_O I'm betting you that pretty much most of the children still reading Harry Potter has no idea that Dumbledore is gay, and I doubt the future generation would even think twice unless they were forced to read HP in literature class (Ohhh the poor saplings).
Ohhh that felt good.
